If you are a part of lgbtqia+ community and you’ve come out of your friends or family how did it go? I’ve personally come out to my family a few times and I want to know how it went for you, how did you come out and did you regret it after you came out? I want to make this a safe space for other people interested in coming out to their families or friends and to help give them ideas how too!

Thx 🥰

I came out to my family a few times and I wrote little notes and made drawings of the pride flags I was coming out as, it went pretty some times but not every time. One thing that is very important about coming out is that it has to be at a good time, I came out once at a very stressful time to my family and it did not go over well. I do regret coming out as a lesbian, not because of homophobia but because I wish I could’ve not come out and just asked if I could invite my girlfriend to a family event one day and pretend as though they should’ve expected I was a lesbian, and that straight girls don’t usually wear flannel and combat boots simply because I wanna see who in my family is heteronormative and who has a good gay-dar

It was the scariest most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life. The only thing I regret is waiting so long to do it.

My mom brought gender up in a conversation and I didn't plan it but I just came out to her as agender then. I don't regret it because my parents helped me get my hair cut and shop for clothes that I am more comfortable in.
