Also, over 270 retirees volunteered to go into more dangerous areas of the damaged nuclear power plant. Their reasoning was that they would probably pass from old age before getting cancer, and would rather do the work than have younger guys lives shortened by it.

Gabriella Gossi basically making a remark that she thought the Fukushima disaster was caused only by the nuclear reactor. She said "thanks for the info" and she got 12 down votes and her comment was hidden. Why? I don't think she was being sarcastic, and i guess we will never know because you can't reply to hidden comments. I fear that someone just got "internet abused" because she was genuinely grateful for being enlightened.

I hate that any animals get left behind in a disaster. People will abandon their pets, which is unconscionable.

Knowing what happened to some of those animals left behind...I'm glad someone cared.

'hate on the Jon'? All you need to say is 'Don't hate Jon'... Anyway, you gave him attention by telling us to ignore him.

Scientific tests also showed that they stress out when separated. They believe that by reducing the stress they will raise their milk yield. But considering cows are herd animals, this isn't really surprising.

I wonder how they would know that? So in their world, while swimming past one another, one could be a Phil and another a Jack? It would be like "Hey Phil, I found a warm spot over here, check it out.

Many prisons in the US have a program that has select inmates train shelter dogs, some for specific tasks such as disability service dogs. Marked improvement in inmate behavior and outlook have been noted in these programs and, of course, it improves the lives of the dogs involved.

Greyhounds As Pets NSW have a similar program at a women's correctional facility here in Sydney. The inmates help prepare ex-racing greys for life as a pet, teaching them things like how to go up & down stairs, basic obedience, etc. It's great for the dogs, as well as the inmates who can even earn a government-recognised certificate. (Our foster grey participated in this!) :)
