Fake news, bad news, horrifying news - all of that and so much more negativity reach us every day. And even if you're quite content with your life and belong to the happy people group, these horrible happenings can break down even the best of us sometimes. That's why we are determined to change the world at least a tiny bit by spreading as much good news as possible.

Did you know that according to Swiss law, social animals like guinea pigs must have a buddy with them, and it's illegal to own just one? And were you aware that sea otters hold hands while sleeping, so they don't drift away from one another? And believe it or not, did you know that Norway knighted a penguin? These are just some of the random happy facts that you can find in the list below. Compiled by Bored Panda, these interesting facts are sure to put a smile on your face while also teaching you a thing or two about the world we live in and the great role models who make it better. Don't forget to vote for the best!

Scientific tests also showed that they stress out when separated. They believe that by reducing the stress they will raise their milk yield. But considering cows are herd animals, this isn't really surprising.

Many prisons in the US have a program that has select inmates train shelter dogs, some for specific tasks such as disability service dogs. Marked improvement in inmate behavior and outlook have been noted in these programs and, of course, it improves the lives of the dogs involved.

Greyhounds As Pets NSW have a similar program at a women's correctional facility here in Sydney. The inmates help prepare ex-racing greys for life as a pet, teaching them things like how to go up & down stairs, basic obedience, etc. It's great for the dogs, as well as the inmates who can even earn a government-recognised certificate. (Our foster grey participated in this!) :)
