For most of us, rescuing a pet is a huge responsibility, but it's the best thing that can happen to the animal shelter residents. To prove the power of a loving home, proud owners from all over the world are sharing photos of their family dogs before and after they were rescued. Bored Panda has decided to compile these heartwarming dog adoption images into a list, and it will clear any doubts whether or not it's worth picking up a pup from a kennel.

From sad faces in cramped cells to wide smiles on king size beds, these k9s found happiness in their new dog rescuers homes and can't hide their emotions. You can understand the difference pet adoption makes to a shelter inmate only if you see one, so scroll down and meet the lucky ones!

Find the monster who did this to another living crature and strike him with righteous retribution. Show no mercy.

Had I not known that this dog would do well in the end I wouldn't manage to even look at the first picture because it's so awful. It's unbelievable how anyone that skinny even can stand up. :(

OMG, JAIL TIME and PHYSICAL LABOR, like chain gang labor, as well as a hefty monetary donation to the local shelter should be mandatory punishment for anyone who could do this to an animal!

The first pic brought tears to my eyes...how long was he/she "out there" ? She's gorgeous and deserves to be treated like a queen...and now she is, thanks to YOU. You have a huge heart and you won't be sorry.

It should break our hearts to see this kind of abuse and neglect! They don’t deserve this kind of treatment! Yet, as humans, we do even worse to others! No one human or animal, deserves this kind of life!

I wish I could gather all homeless dogs give them a place to live, food, water and loving care. If I have as much money as some wealthy people, I would build a shelter for all dogs so no would be found like this one. Sorry, I am a dog lover, and really do not care for cats all that much, wait, I am allergic to cats. So someone else would have to take the cats. Spay and neuter your dogs and cats, cut that population down. Pass legislation to make it mandatory to have this procedure done, do away with puppy mills, send those who run them to jail, or prison, make them work off their time while in prison working with animals.

Mandatory punishment - let me at them for just 5 minutes. The rage inside of me at the sight of that puppy in the first pic would have me pull their gizzards out and laugh at their suffering. How can anyone treat animals like this. You rescued a beautiful soul there.

I am unable to look at all of these, it is much too painful. Bless the adopters. The pets know they are rescued, it;s in there face. That makes me happy for all.

You shouldn’t be able to adopt if you are going to bring them back, but I guess that is better then having them abandoned.
