I would have enjoyed a few clean shaven men too. I noticed they all had beards which leads me to believe the author does not deem an older man is handsome unless he sports a beard.

Where does it mention "elderly"? It just says "older men".
Actually,... in the "opener" the author does refer to these men as "grandpas", which does conjure up images of an elderly man. ... And, the author also refers to these men as... "old men"!.. ;-)

If you live to 80 then 40 would be middle-aged. 50 if you're planning on living to 100. Odds are better that middle-aged is 36-38.
Your "middle-age" deduction is correct. ... But, the "true" life expectancy of a "healthy" male that lives to be 60, is actually well into their 80's and 90's!... The 73-74 average takes into account ALL males of ANY age (teens, pre-teens, children, young adults, etc.) who succumb for ANY reason (childhood disease, accidents, murder, etc.). ... That's how they arrive at the 73-74 national male life expectancy average.

If over 35 is “old” for women, then yes 47 year old men are old. Otherwise start telling 47 year old women they aren’t old. Men do age faster than women after all.
I think it's telling that it's okay for men to go gray at a fairly young age yet so many women feel they must keep dying their hair well into their senior years. I also think that yes these men are all nice looking but most seemed older to me than their ages.

June 7, l will be 63. I believe I look and feel much younger than most of them. Nevertheless, l concur with the proverbial "age is only a number." That's if you work to take care of your body by way of regular exercise and sensible diet.

I was actually just about to comment that.
You didn't' give ages for all of them, but virtually all of them look better than guys today that are half their age who are strongly pushing the "dad bod" as an ideal body type versus something like this.
That silvery white hair you're seeing doesn't occur in nature. It's VERY enhanced - which makes perfect sense, since these guys are models. I started going grey in high school. It looked horrid then, and now it would look even worse..
The women in my family all either get grey that looks like came out of a box beautiful or don't get gray at all.
actually not right many people go silvery white - if it was dyed/ bleached it would have a yellow or fake metallic cast - if you don't like your grey that's ok - i love mine withe deep grey and silver white streaks - hair is softer and much nicer than the very ageing fake harsh dyes women subject themselves to - all you look like is an older woman who dyes their hair, it looks fake

Folks, the headline doesn't say "ELDERLY" it clearly states "OLDER" - and yes, men in their 40s (like myself) are middle-aged, which means we ARE OLDER than half the adults viewing this.
55 is senior discount. I'd start there. But most of these guys do fall into the "silver fox" look. Always been a fan of older men. Women too, are better from mid 20s to mid 40s. Aftwr that it's hit or miss.

The order is so bad, it is an insult to about half the guys on the list. The concept of older is so far off...47? 50? I would have though approaching social security at least. the bulk of these were middle age. Oh and black and white pictures tend to make people look older as well, so they should have been omitted.

We REALLY need to stop thinking of age as the number of years you have been alive and more about how 'mature' you are because there are many men over 40 who can't get their 'sh!t' together and many under 25 who know who they are and where they are going.

Secondly; these men are styled and pictured in airbrushed photos that would make all people look more flawless. And all that beard makes them look older than they are - I was surprised that some of them was 10-15 years younger than I would have guessed - in their face - their body may be more toned than other men at the same age. My parents are 58 years old and both looks younger than most of these guys.

I can only imagine how much better some of these men would look WITHOUT all the facial hair...
The majority of them are either very elegantly dressed or have absurdly over-sculpted bodies...which also means what the author finds attractive is a man having a great deal of money. Which is fine, but let's be serious here, you need a whole lotta dough to afford a private physical trainer and Savile Row tailoring. There wasn't a single example of a normal middle class man. Plus, yeah, the facial hair fetish. Not a single man without a bushy ole thing going on. Not to say they're not all spectacularly handsome, but there's some serious socioeconomic prejudice going on. And yes, as many of the commenters mentioned, a few of them would look great for 65, but are oddly aged for 48 or 52. Still, all in all a nice little profile of looking good after 50.....we just shouldn't all leap on the Jerry Garcia bandwagon with regard to grooming habits.
