This Online Group Is All About Fails That Fit Under The ‘You Had One Job’ Phrase (50 New Pics)
Nobody is exempt from making mistakes. It's what makes us human. In fact, we manage to mess up even in those rare cases when we're faced with a task so simple, failure just seems not to be an option.
And probably nothing shows how good we are at being bad like the subreddit r/OneJob. It's a fun online community slash depository dedicated exclusively to those occupational mishaps that make you scream the classic phrase "You Had One Job!"
We at Bored Panda love visiting this corner of the internet and have already covered it here, here, and here, but these folks have kept themselves busy and discovered plenty of new fails since our last publication, so we just had to make a new one!

Not Sure If It Quite Fits Here But...
How This Got Through Is Beyond My Understanding
To learn more about why sometimes people struggle at work, we contacted life coach Dr. Mariette Jansen.
"There are a number of reasons, which are either related to internal demotivation or external demotivation," Jensen, aka Dr. De-Stress, told Bored Panda.
"Internal demotivators are connected to someone's mindset, values, and thought processes and are often carried over from one job to another."

Suicide Prevention: Reducing The Number Of Suicidal People
You are technically correct - the best kind of correct!
Load More Replies...I needed more on this story so i Googled it: Roy, Utah man, Jose Calzada, 35, placed a call to a suicide prevention hotline and threatened to kill himself. Neighbors described Calzada as a quiet, friendly man, who was divorced and now lived in the home with his girlfriend and her children. The first tragic mistake in this case was made when the Weber County Consolidated Dispatch Center sent officers to the residence rather than some type of crisis response team trained to deal with suicidal individuals. A SWAT team came to the residence and “negotiated” with Calzada for more than seven hours before taking his life. "Officers are authorized to stop a threat whenever their life is threatened, or the life of another is threatened. And at that point if the officer feels he is justified, he may act to stop that threat.” Apparently a threat against even your own life is considered a general threat and they shot him! So sad
Thanks for saving me the trouble of looking it up, but also, wtf?! Like... just... wtf... smh
Load More Replies...I don't consider this a 'funny fail'. It's very sad how the USA deal with (mental) healthcare. It's a disgrace, frankly. The USA is more and more becoming a third world country.
No, it was a 3rd world country. Now it's just starting to show everyone in the world!
Load More Replies...This is so sad. My dad committed suicide. I truly feel that most people just do not understand the tragedy of someone ending their life this way unless they’ve experienced a loss this way. I’ve heard so many crude comments over the years in passing about suicide.
I lost my mom to suicide, and i really agree. It sucks about all the misconceptions there are about suicide. Sending you virtual hugs <3
Load More Replies...Oh, yes- the Convenience States of America. Say the wrong thing to a dispatcher, death delivered in 30 minutes or less, or your money back.
Load More Replies...On the up side, his life insurance isn't voided due to suicide. Yay?
Depends. Did he have a life insurance? The fact that his own gun was involved may also void it. Etc. Especially depends on your surviving family to fight for that payout, which they may not be in a state to do.
Load More Replies...I can confirm that this is true, calling this hotline is a bad idea! I was in low place a few years ago when my father died, dialed the number hoping just to talk to someone, well they keep you on the line, trace the call next you know, fifteen minutes later you’ve got six cops storming your place, guns drawn! Best just to man up and keep your feelings to yourself.
Not sure what the ' I think its funny comments' this happens way more than it should Mental health is nothing to joke about
I suffer from bad bad depression. I've often thought about offing myself. The other night I called the Suicide Prevention Hotline hoping to talk to someone. So, I get a recording
Grim interpretation of that old meme image of a sign that says "Don't kill yourself, let us help!"
could be a 'suicide by cop' when someone want to kill himself but since he can't do it he volontary act agressivly toward cop so they do the job for him.
I doubt it. In this country, acting "aggressively" to cops can be things like walking in close proximity to them or holding any object within their line of sight.
Load More Replies...This is part of the reason why I was upset when my stepmom repeatedly threatened to call the police on her daughter who was having a mental breakdown. If she had gone through with calling the police, there's a chance my stepsister might not be here anymore.
The perfect murder would be to call for a welfare check on the intended victim.
Something devastatingly similar to this happened in Fergus, Ontario Canada last August. People suffering mental illness don't need guns pointed at them in their own homes.
And this is why the rest of the world is terrified of going to (and too disgusted to go to) America. Also why we cringe when you talk about it being "land of the free" when you don't even have universal healthcare or a 50% chance of not getting shot
Jose Calzada, 35. https://www.nyaprs.org/e-news-bulletins/2014/man-calls-suicide-prevention-swat-team-kills-him
Give a man a gun and he'll look at it. Add a bullet or more and he'll shot it.
This isn't funny at all. Bored Panda you really disappointed me here. Especially as a survivor of several suicide attempts and I had to watch my fiancee shoot himself. Please do better
It's says if you are a veteran press one, habla espanol numero dos, to speak with a counselor press 3. I press 3. A couple more questions and they say they'll connect me to the next available counselor in my area. Then thank you for your call, we are still searching. I hung up. Soon my tears turned to laughter at how inept this service is. It was such a joke. So, yeah, a suicide was prevented.
Now the family can collect both his life insurance and a wrongful death lawsuit against the police department.
Think I'll stay away from the SPH, no matter what. I have a neighbor whose trigger-happy, so there.
Man, I just looked this up and read an article about it, and a few other similar instances have occurred. It’s really disheartening. This is why all precincts should, by law, be required to have appropriate and competent professionals to handle and negotiate these incidences.
i mean, he technically didn't commit suicide so... task failed successfully?
Sorry but wow how dreadfully much I laughed. I'm a horrible person.
As a disabled vet, fighting chronic pain (with zero pain medicine,) and severe depression on top of multiple other problems, and, as someone who has called the suicide prevention girlie numerous times, this is horrible to see 😪
Some dude calls 911 cuz he got shot, ended up in middle of road, responding officer ran him over killing him!!! HOW DO YOU NOT SEE HIM LAYING IN THE ROAD BRUH!!!! 🤨😳
Maybe it had something to do with what he told the person on the phone. Did he say he was gonna take his whole family with him or something?
Just because something is ironic doesn’t automatically make it funny
I've read truly f***ed-up stories about police killing someone who needed psychiatric help. This isn't one of them. (1) Murder-suicide is a thing. (2) Suicide by cop is also a thing. (3) The guy didn't tell the hotline that he felt like he wanted to kill himself and needed talking out of it, but that he was GOING to kill himself. (4) According to the police, after 7 hours, the guy shot at a police officer. (5) OK, everyone advocating to keep the police away from these situations... are YOU going to deal with a guy like that UNARMED and ALONE... as a NORMAL part of your job? If so, maybe YOU should call a suicide hotline.
No, the SWAT team was on their annual overseas retreat.

According to Dr. De-Stress, some examples of internal demotivators are:
- Not having a strong work ethic – work is a means to an end, not a passion or fulfillment;
- The personal values are not reflected in the current job – it is hard to motivate yourself when you are a vegan working in a meat factory;
- Being fatalistic and negative and not seeing the point or thinking how you are contributing to the wealth of the board;
- Hating the job.

While external demotivators can be:
- Not feeling valued by the manager, team, or colleagues;
- Feeling underpaid;
- Being suffocated by the work environment, such as being micro-managed, not heard, or not stimulated;

The pandemic hasn't things easier, too. A survey from the Pew Research Center showed that 42% of US adults under the age of 50 feel difficulties in finding the motivation to work since the beginning of the pandemic.
But the older folks seem to concentrate a lot easier, as respondents aged 50 and over said the same just 20% of the time.

I Don’t Think The Person Who Made This Understands What It Means When You Put A Line Through A Word Like That
Dr. De-Stress said that the first step toward regaining motivation at what you do starts from within by "becoming aware which demotivators are at work."
This allows you to consider which ones are within your power to change, but if it is not possible to better your situation, it might be a sign that you need to start looking around for another job.

"It is the personal energy someone puts in that determines the motivation," Dr. De-Stress highlighted. "People have more power than they realize and greater abilities to make the changes they desire."
