Finally, There’s A Gym That Offers Napping Classes For Tired Adults, And Here’s How It Works
Leaving less and less time for sleep has sort of become a trademark for the modern 21st-century person. And with that comes a slew of undesired consequences, like the constant tiredness, stress and so on. That’s where one gym in the UK saw an opportunity and opened up napping classes.
That’s right, now you can pay for 15-minute stretching exercise followed by a 45-minute nap in an “ideal temperature” room full of strangers, and still call it “going to the gym.”
The organizers call it “Nap-Ercise” and they say the class will: “reinvigorate the mind, improve moods, and even burn the odd calorie,” which is just abstract enough for it not to be false.
Although, there might be some science behind it. According to a study done at the Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, participants who took a 45-minute nap in the middle of their day handled stress better than those who didn’t. And a different study from UC Berkeley found that an afternoon nap could increase the brain’s learning capacity.
For now, the class is on a trial run at David Lloyd Clubs in Sidcup, UK, and if it’s a success, the gyms might include the class in a membership cost in the other clubs across the UK.
Too tired for your gym class? Why won’t you take a nap then?

Share on FacebookNow, if we can just get them all to snore in concert, we'd have a choir. :D
It's not ridiculous if people are willing to pay to do it. If there's a market for it, heck I'll set up my own dormitory and call it a gym!
In Spain we have been doing the "Spanish yoga" since... always, but each one in their own place, hehehe
I got mixed feelings. I wouldn;t be able to fall asleep in a place like that. It's astonishing how people find new ways to earn money and even more astonishing, how people are willing to pay for such things. Nap? Sure, in my bed. But gladly I don't need those during the day :)
"increase the brain’s learning capacity" Okay, I totally have to try it then. But at home, for free. Not surrounded by strangers after paying an outrageous price.
...You've got to sleep in the same room as everyone else? Hearing all the shuffling and farting? If it was a dark room designed for sleeping that you can rent by the hour - count me in.
This would make me more tired! Iv noticed that day time sleep tends to be much deeper
I never could "nap". Unless I get some REM and Delta I just end up more tired.
Thats f*****g ridiculous, bub. People are getting desperates to be "Pioneers". Daaamn...
Actually, that's not the way to nap (the way the pics are shown). On your back. NOT under bed covers (feels too much like bed time) and with a blanket for weight and warmth, not sheets.
I have only one question... What if someone snores rrrrreally loud?
Great idea! Collective stretching and naping. Surrounded by people who want to sleep as well. I want one near my place.
How am I supposed to rub one out before I fall asleep in a room full of strangers
