Whilst protests in America have erupted over the past few years, there’s one recurring character taking his own message to the streets. You might recognize Seth Phillips as the guy in sunglasses holding a cardboard sign and protesting random things, no matter how weird or strange they are. But the best thing is, we can relate to most of what this NYC protestor has to say.

So, if you’ve ever felt like your voice and opinion doesn’t matter in the vast world, then ‘Dude With Sign’ is here to prove you wrong. He calls out the annoying things that we wish we had the guts to tell others. Yes, there should be more chips and less air in bags! H-hey, first-world problems are still problems, o-okay?

We collected the very best of his funny protest signs, so scroll down and enjoy! Let us know which ones you agree with the most from this unsung hero. When you're ready, check out our second collection of Seth's brilliant signs as well.

There are some annoying things that I can relate to here and want to call out too. Nobody wants to watch a dozen video stories of you at a concert, seriously. And to the guy that keeps hitting 'reply all' on our company emails: you need to stop. You’re fighting the good fight, Seth — keep it up with your funny protest signs, this is how we make changes in the world.

While protesting random things does give us a good laugh, the role of humor in peaceful protest culture is no joke. According to one study, humor helps frame political protests, aids in creating a social movement’s collective identity, and is a powerful communication tool.

What’s more, humor energizes protests and brings protesters closer together through shared positive experiences. To put it simply, humor and funny signs are a weapon of the people and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

There are many innovative ways to support a cause that you care about. So, when you’re done looking through this list, check out Bored Panda’s previous articles about an Indian painter who highlighted awful roads by pretending to be an astronaut, as well as about a woman who showed her managers that wearing high heels as part of dress code is incredibly uncomfortable when you're working for 12 hours per day.

Pili, my name is Pili, I am a woman... Starbucks employees in NY always wrote "Billy". At the end, I started using a nickname after the third "Billy" and officially became "Maya" while aboard

There's a simple solution to Starbucks employees misspelling your name. Don't go there anymore and make your coffee at home. It also saves you loads of money you can use to retire early.

Go somewhere that doesn't ask your name. It's not as if Starbucks' coffee is that good. And their tea is vile! Yes, I said it! :-D

I think we all agree that yes some names are hard to spell. Unless you have a name typical for the country you are in, there is 90% chances it will get spelled wrong. Make up a name just for starbucks, it will make everybody's life a bit easier.

It's ok to expect your name to be spelled and pronounced correctly. Since everything else in life is probably pear-shaped, the least people can do is get your g--d--- name right.

Names are often very difficult to spell depending on the culture someone grew up in. It is easy if you have it in front of you, but remembering is difficult.

The chances that people spell mine right are very low. They usually write Elliott, but I've also seen Eliot and even Ellliot (3 Ls!) It's Elliot. I'd say people spell it correctly about 30% of the time.

My name is really common except that the spelling is one vowel off from the "regular spelling" so one letter is changed from a "y" to an "i" therefore many people think it's a name from a different planet because it's "not spelled correctly"

They spell them incorrectly on purpose, this is done to make an order unique too not confuse them later. Kind of when you put your man be on a reservation they'll add your last initial if you're the second "Cindy" if there's a repeat of the last entirely interaction they'll spell it with an "ie" so it's less likely they'll give away your reservation on accident

I wish that was the case for me. Jasmine isn't actually my real name. I have a very common name, but everyone wants to spell it the more common way, than the way I spell it. My name ends with any, but everyone wants to spell it ney. 9 times out of 10 when I go to Starbucks they put ney or they just ask me how to spell it.

That depends. Some names are ridiculously hard to spell. However, when your last name is Shake, nobody should ever ask you that question. And on a side note, if you're not a child, making jokes about it is really unnecessary. Here's your sign for that.

Good grief, where is this guy from? LOTS of names are that hard to spell, including my husband's name which has two sets of double letters together. No one ever gets that right. Some people have ethnic names that are hard to spell. Even "easy" names often have variants. So yep, names can be that hard to spell.
