“If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything,” states the description on Dude With Sign's Instagram account. And the guy means it.

He stands for free guacamole, more chips than air in the bag, making it illegal to charge $15 for a bowl of lettuce, or honking as soon as the light turns green, and these are just a handful of things Dude has been protesting for. Today, Dude has made himself into a sort of an icon of the professional peaceful protest league, with 7.3m avid followers cheering for his low-key micro demonstrations.

Armed with a board and a marker, Dude is back with some fresh signs for y’all to think about. Scroll down, upvote your favorites, and after you’re done, be sure to check out more of his funny posters in our previous part 1 and part 2.

I don't understand the medical exception part... I have severe asthma and having a really bad time at the moment and the mask doesn't bother me (appart the fact that I hate having something touching my face)

This! This! This! I’m a liberal who unfortunately lives in the red stain part of an otherwise blue state (I would move in a millisecond if offered a job in the blue). It irks me to no end when I see someone wearing their mask under their nose. They get belligerent when you try to remind them it should go over their nose—-no matter how polite and diplomatic you try to be. Stores aren’t posting the warning in very big letters—-it should be in enormous red letters, along with the portion of the state mandate requiring proper mask wear—-and they aren’t even trying to enforce it very much. Then again, why should I expect them to enforce it, when I see store employees wearing their masks below their noses too. All I can do is make sure my husband and I are scrupulous about protecting ourselves; wearing masks and gloves when we go out (only to do necessary shopping for now), and cleaning up when we get home.

Wrong. People can, and will, follow simple instructions. What we have here is that the 'simple instructions' that a lot of people get are conflicting, on the one hand, you have the real information but on the other hand, there is a shitload of disinformation out there. Personally, I find it difficult to even begin to fathom the evil in the individuals who make up and spread disinformation created to make average people put their own and other peoples' lives in danger. Wicked. CRITICAL THINKING is an art that ought to be taught in every grade from kindergarten to post-doctorate.

It’s like he saw the sign and decided to pull his mask all the way down. Either he thinks he’s funny (he’s not), or it was a pure d**k move (if he’s a MAGAt).

Man, it makes my blood boil when I see these morons with their chin straps! What the hell is that supposed to do and why are they allowed to enter stores like this. If I'd run a store, I'd tell them to pull the mask up, which I luckily did see in at least one shop last weekend

I was buying coffee & a person was being asked to wear her mask over her nose, well she didn't care & made a joke of it to her friends who were doing the right thing, I know I should have ignored it, ended up with me tell the owner that she could refuse her custom, after her telling me I was offending her for pointing the fact to her in front of other patrons, I have a sensitive auto immune system so I am so on this wearing masks correctly

I LOVE this, but as far as the picture goes, the guy with mask pulled down could be 20 feet from everyone, with no one else approaching within 50 feet. The droplets don't fly like helicopters (though I did hear we're now talking about tinier particles which can float around longer, but haven't heard a word on whether masks block those). Especially at this time, we have to be very careful not to jump to conclusions.

I'm lucky I live in the Minneapolis Metro area. Even the white supremecists who invaded the Floyd protests wore their masks, and properly for the most part. Most people were wearing masks and properly. After the governor issued a mask mandate, it's 100% compliance, and very rare that I see some idiot with it not covering their nose.

HIPA laws do not prevent people asking you why you are not wearing a mask. HIPA laws protect the person from answering. Get over it

HIPAA laws have absolutely nothing to do with this. If you knew what HIPAA law actually is, you'd know that. Any business has the right to ask what a person's self proclaimed "exemption" is. And NO business is obligated to let people in without a mask during a pandemic that involves a deadly respiratory virus. People who refuse to wear masks in stores or other businesses are claiming they have a "disability" which 99.9999% of the time is b******t. In order to be disabled enough to not be able to wear a mask for 30 minutes or less, a doctor would have to write that on the disability forms which are specific to an individual, not the disease or disorder itself. So yes, a business CAN ask to see medical documentation that says you are too disabled to wear a mask and even then they don't have to let you in. They can offer alternatives, like a face shield, online shopping or curbside pickup. The ADA has been saying that people running around claiming disabilities have no case.

Is it a busy road with thousands of people walking around daily ? If yes then he's just letting himself be at risk as much as being indoor. Mask on whenever you're in crowded places

Back in 2019, Seth Philips and Elliot Tabele took to the streets of New York City’s SoHo neighborhood to hold up a cardboard sign with the message “Stop replying-all to company-wide emails.” The pic was meant for Tabele’s personal Instagram account, but as the followers grew, the duo decided to make a whole new page dedicated to their low-key protests, and that’s how @dudewithsign was created.

Seth told Forbes that they get the protest and sign ideas mainly from their work environment and coworkers. It turns out, office fun can be an endless source of inspiration for first-world problems.

“When creating the protests, we try to come up with something funny that is relatable that people don't particularly talk about. We try to have each of these elements while appealing to every type of person, which is a big part of why I think the account has accumulated as many followers as it has.”

The @dudewithsign page quickly grew past the initial 4m followers and now has a whopping 7.3m followers on Instagram, as well as 248.6K followers on Twitter. In January, Seth and his witty signs appeared on The Ellen Show, where they helped Ellen DeGeneres with her opening speech.

Seth also told Forbes that at this point, he’s still trying to figure the future out. “Maybe continue making funny accounts? There are interesting opportunities that I would have never imagined coming my way with this all the time,” he said in the same interview.
