Guy Photoshops Himself Into Childhood Pics To Hang Out With His Childhood Self, And The Result Is Just Too Realistic
Photoshop isn't useful for trolling only. Montreal-based photographer Conor Nickerson has created an art project where he has inserted his current self into his own childhood photos from 1997-2005, and the nostalgic photo manipulations look perfectly real.
"While looking through some old family photos, I wondered what it would look like if tried to photoshop myself today into them," Conor writes. "I gathered all the old hats and t-shirts that I could find and did my best to put myself into those moments which, aside from these old photos, remain only distant childhood memories."
Conor says that one of the biggest challenges with these photo recreations was matching the quality of the new pictures to the old ones. "It involved a lot of blurring, sharpening, and noise to try to get it to look like an older photo."
"Photo editing these images and looking at them so closely for so long takes a bit away from the shock value, but seeing the final images all together definitely is a bit strange! I feel like me and little me would have gotten along pretty alright."

Conor, that's extremely good work! I do a bit myself (using 1998 Paintshop Pro) so I get very good at noticing how well others do. You've done the Number One Right Thing: SHADOWS! Light angles and shadows. Yours are perfect! Grats!!
I am not 100% sure but I think there was an empty chair because the shadow looks like there's an empty chair next to the kid... I could also be completely insane and have no idea what I'm talking about though cuz it's been a super long week :-)
There is the shape of his head in the shadow though. The light seems to be at a 45° angle, so it could work. He might have photographed himself on a chair with that shadow and photoshopped the whole thing in.
Load More Replies...Why do you have to nitpick about it? Lol jeez it's still a great finale to the series! Great skills all around :D
Dying over all the criticism.. obviously people who have no clue about photoshop and how hard it is to do stuff like this. Who really cares if the shadow is 100% as it should be.. for reals. These pictures are amazing!!
What a beautiful gift he has given himself, his family! Could you people stop commenting cretics and just enjoy the moment? Jees!
Can someone explain how a cute button nose became long and pointed? Did he have rhinoplasty after breaking his nose?
This is the only one that looks slightly off to me. This in no way negates the wonderful work this talented young man does- amazing!!
So, in the original picture was there just an empty chair, or was it photoshopped in :O really cool!
It says st the beginning of the thread he photoshopped his current self into childhood pix!
Load More Replies...Did you read the title? Guy photoshops himself with himself from childhood...
just a photoshop tip......add "noise" to your skin so it matches the old photo
You look like you gained a protective and loving big brother! I hope you look after yourself as much as you would over little you.
Awww nice! It feels good to have a lot of childhood pics... These days most pics are taken digitally and posted online. So easy and can just be done because there's nothing else to do. In the past, every click of the camera is precious.
I need to see him photoshop in his son or daughter in the future please!
For once a photo project that isn't too try hard or obnoxious or weirdly deviant. Love them.
Or he can clone himself. That would be more accurate to try and emulate this project in real life. ^_-
Load More Replies...I just love it ! I often dream of meeting my Mini-me and give her advices to avoid errors :) It's also a great idea to make fun and original gift for a big birthday !
A future project would be a series with his own child photoshopped in.
One of the best PhotoShop executions I have seen on BP. Loving the concept too.
It's good, but he should have fixed the resolution of the new source images and blurred the edges a bit, they are slightly sharper than the original pictures.
Load More Replies...Really beautifully done and very touching. Your skills with lighting make these look seamless! Much respect!
It's creative, original and downright cool -- but it still creeps me out.
These are so well done. There are a few you can just make out the cuts he did in Photoshop, but the Artist did an amazing job trying to fabricate the Grain that is usually found in older photos. Amazing
I'm in love with this guy! He's so adorable for making this project! How can I find him?:))
