This Man Won’t Stop Adopting Rescue Animals, And Here’s How He Lives

Meet Lee Asher, a typical LA guy with quite an extraordinary pet family – the man happens to have 9 rescue animals. “I always knew that when I was older I would have a house filled with rescue dogs, so seeing where I am now isn’t much of a surprise to me or anyone who knew me growing up,” Asher, who runs a finance company, told The Dodo. Ever since he was a child, the man knew that helping rescue puppies and other animals was his calling. So far, Asher has rescued 16 pets.

As a child, the guy would spend tons of time at animal shelters, volunteering and learning more about the process of adopting a dog. Once he got into college, he started fostering dogs from shelters and finding them loving forever homes as family dogs.

“The inspiration just comes from loving dogs and knowing that you are not only saving a life, but when rescuing a dog you are allowing the space for other rescues to possibly get adopted too.” He added: “It’s a win-win and a beautiful feeling.”

Today the man has seven cute dogs and two adorable cats, some of which are ‘foster fails’. “It’s constant entertainment and I’m very grateful to have a home filled with so much love and dog fur,” said Asher. “Sounds corny, but just try to imagine an epic beautiful day every day filled with a lot of laughter, love and belly rubs,” Asher confessed to Bored Panda.

Is he single? LOL. I'd be in heaven. A handsome guy & the chance to be surrounded by cute pups; every pup-loving girl's dream, I imagine. 💕✨😍✨💕

I'm sure I'd be his perfect mate (been rescuing all my life, currently have 15 critters lol), but think I might be old enough to be his mom, and he might not be into that. :-X lol

This is such a double standard. This guy is unmarried, and has tons of animals, and people commend him and ladies swoon, but if a woman is unmarried and has lots of animals, she's looked down on, and judged as "crazy animal lady" or mentally ill.

You rock! My kind of guy and person! I now have 2 chow dogs, 2 cats, and one bunny. Had 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 bunnies, and 3 guinea pigs until a couple years ago...all rescues, all natural causes of death, but happy when they were here!!! Keep up the good work buddy!

Man, you have a way to go to catch up to me...I have 14 dogs, 11 cats, 2 horses, 1 mini donkey, one pot bellied pig and more chickens, turkeys and guinea hens than I can shake a stick at. I retired and worked with a rescue...these are the ones that couldn't find homes, some just dumped in my pasture or drive. With all these animals I had to buy a farm to give them room. Yeah, I'm a soft touch and PROUD of it.

I have a question for everybody. What the law says in case of - How many animals is allowed in one household? In California obviously one could have a lot of them. In Europe, in some states, you can't have so many of them, it's against the law (specially if you live in not-so-big apartment). I was always wondering and been curious about that. Thank you. :)

I know this comment is old and who knows if you'll see my response, but it really depends on the specific city you live in. I honestly felt a bit nervous seeing this because I doubt that legally he's allowed to have this many pets in L.A. I hope they don't see this and try to cite him! I live in Las Vegas and legally the limit is 3 dogs. I have 6 dogs and 2 cats. I'm technically breaking the law but it's not really heavily enforced unless someone complains or if you have them in poor conditions. It's a lot easier if you own your own home as there's no landlord to make the rules or check in on you. I always feel a little nervous though that one of my neighbors might be a jerk and make a complaint. That's why I never leave my dogs out in the yard alone and I do everything in my power to keep the property clean and quiet.

Wonderful story! I can definitely relate to this because I currently have 8 rescued dogs. I have had many more who already passed away and I also fostered well over 20 rescued dogs over the years until they got adopted. Nothing can be more fulfilling than knowing you rescued a valuable life.

I have 8 rescue dogs and two rescue cats. I am like pied piper wherever I go in the house 8 dogs follow sometimes the cat depends on his mood, my other cat is old so I have her separate from the noise. I am never alone or never feel unloved, my cup runneth over so to speak. Good on you Lee and everyone else who has responded who is the multi diverse households.
