A Guy Found A Scared Kitten Under A Truck And Just Couldn’t Say No To Her

When this good guy saw a scared kitten clinging to a truck near his office, he just couldn’t leave her like that. Turns out, “the mama kitty ran off… and ditched the kitten. No other kittens could be found,” – redditor JustAnotherGoodGuy explained.
Immediately after finding the kitty, the man sent the picture to his wife asking “can I bring it home?” His wife’s reaction? “Who could say no to that face?” – she said.
The first thing they did was take her to the vet. “That’s how we found she’s a she. Got shots, the whole new kitten package. She was only 4-5 weeks old when found.”
“[Axel] has made herself right at home with our 19 year old cat and 2 year old dog. She’s safe, sound, warm, and… loved,” – the couple explained.

Yeah. I once knew a cat who lived to 43. Crazy old cat was probably alive because of the adrenaline in her veins. From what her owners said, she had her hyper spurts until she died.
One of my kitties lived to be 19.
My older cat just turned 21 so yes, it's possible.
What is surprising in this? We have humans that live until more than 100 years, and humans that don't even become adults. Same thing with other animals like cats: some live until 20+ years and some don't even pass the 10 years old limit.

We actually just put our 19 year old cat down last Thursday. He could no longer stand on his own, and wasn't going to make it much longer. Cats can live to be pretty old. I also have a 17 year old Birman mix.

What's so unusual about a 19-year-old cat? There are a lot of them around. Several years ago, I had a 20-year old cat that developed mammary tumors. She had surgery, and lived another active, happy 2 years to pass in her sleep right after her 22nd birthday.
The oldest cat ever, recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records, died at (drumroll) 38!! TWICE 19!! Some cats have super genes, good families, good luck, good Karma...whatever. I actually heard of one recently who lived longer, but she hasn't "made the books" yet.
My cat is 19 yrs old, diabetic and still fierce :)
My first cat,passed away last July was 19 years old.(born in July 1997)He had kidney disease in his last days,and 19 years old was not uncommon these days.

Small dogs and cats can live to be really old. I had a cat who was nearly 23 when she died. Our Yorkie has a life expectancy of anything from 16 up to 22. The smaller the animal the less strain on it's heart and circulatory systems for instance.
She could have been riding/ hiding on the truck in the engine compartment. It happened to my kitty and she rolled off the car she was hiding in on a curve. We rescued her from her tumble. She has been with us 16 years now
we named ours Napa- for napa auto parts ;)
But snobs will think she's a wine connoisseur, after the Napa Valley.
They also stay in wheel wells. I have found a kitten that was riding around for blocks in the well.

Possible story for mom ditching the kitty: They were strays for a long time and then mom has an ideia and says to kitty "You're too good for this kind of life, you don't deserved this!! :( You deserve much better!! This man seems really nice, so I'll leave you under the truck and then I will have to go :( don't forget to look cute and scared at the same time. I love you!!"

Mama cats do not spend 24/7 with their kittens! Just b/c you find a kitten, does not mean it has been abandoned by its mother! Put it somewhere safe where the mother can find it and if it doesn't come back, then adopt it.
Axel is also a Scandinavian given name, usually masculine. But hey! Your Axel is cuter than the historical Axels. Many happy years to ya!

We found a kitten the exact same way in November of 2014! Except the truck was at a stop light in an intersection and we were right behind it!! My husband spotted the wee tabby kitten who was probably only 4 weeks old, and pointed her out to me. It was early morning and we have NO idea how she got there but she was on the inside of the 4X4 trucks back tire and my husband jumped out of the car when I shrieked upon seeing the kitten in such a perilous place. Here is a photo I snapped of her the next day all bathed and fluffy :) and yes we still have her. :) IMG_5082-5...d3f6b9.jpg

Maybe something happened to the Mother. They don't usually abandon their kittens. Because there were no litter mates with her, seems like something was up. If Mom left to hunt, she would have left all her kits together.
