Climate Change Activist Greta Thunberg Just Roasted Her Critics In A Viral Twitter Thread
Climate change activist. Fighter for climate justice. Teenage environmental superstar. The face of the youth movement against global warming. These are just a few of the compliments that 16-year-old Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg has received over the years. However, there are also people who either disagree with her message or the way that she presents it. Some of these individuals are civil about it, others lash out at her online.
However, Greta’s used to getting on the wrong side of some people and she’s tougher than she looks. So instead of falling to pieces from some angry comments after her speech at the recent United Nations Climate Change Summit, Greta decided to hit back at her critics in a viral Twitter thread.

“As you may have noticed, the haters are as active as ever — going after me, my looks, my clothes, my behaviour and my differences. They come up with every thinkable lie and conspiracy theory,” Greta started roasting her critics, highlighting the fact that this is far from the first time she’s had to deal with negative comments.
Among Greta’s critics were the US President, Fox News host Laura Ingraham, as well as Daily Wire journalist Michael Knowles. This week, Knowles was invited to participate in a panel on Fox News; on it, he called Greta ‘mentally ill.’ It is well-known that the teenager has Asperger’s syndrome because she notes this fact in her Twitter bio.
According to the teenager, climate change deniers would rather criticize everything about her, instead of taking a good, long look at the science surrounding global warming. In her opinion, adults should focus on making planet Earth a better, cleaner, healthier place to live in, not waste their time getting angry at a teenager. What’s more, Greta said that it’s best to ignore the haters.
On Monday, Greta gave a speech at the UN where she verbally lambasted world leaders for failing to stop climate change. Some thought that her speech was just what was needed to wake politicians up. While others said that the teenager has good intentions, but the way she delivered the speech was wrong and that she needed to take a calmer approach.
Donald Trump mocked Greta after her speech, saying that she “seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future.” The teenager took the US President’s words and temporarily put them in her Twitter bio as a subtle dig.

You may not like her, or how she says things. But her message is important. For the survival of the planet. And I think that it may be true.. people find anything to shout about loudly, so the message isn't heard. Change sucks. It's f*****g inconvenient to go green. It's expensive. But wars for shortages or the defense of resources are even more inconvenient and more expensive. We should have started the change decades ago. We knew decades ago.
Actually, no. It's not the survival of the planet, because the planet has endured far, far worse than we'll ever be able to inflict. It's OUR survival as a species that's at stake. And you know, sometimes I'm not entirely sure we're worth saving.

Bullying is such a huge issue in schools to the point where kids are killing themselves. Looking at these adults bully this 16 year old ....now I understand where the kid bullies get the idea. Really appalling behavior.

None of us should think that we can ever get EVERYONE onboard. There will always be that slice of humanity that in their hearts truly believes that it's "life as normal, nothing wrong here." Pity them. Work around "them" as you will not change their minds. Don't spin your wheels and waste your energy trying to open their eyes, there's deep-seated fear, anger, and ignorance inside them, they feel safer denying a problem.

I actually walked by her sitting all alone with that sign. I thought it was cute and a bit sad. But the next time, a week later, there were people sitting around talking to her. And ... But this is true. She was sitting there at the start outside the swedish parliament. I often walk by there, in Stockholm. It's not made up.
I obviously don't know her but I like what I know of her and her message. I don't see any concerned adults stepping up to the podium. The criticism seems be a "kill the messenger" tactic .
Whatever her disorder is or does, it´s not deciding in the end. Her words and actions are and they are working and are a constuctive and positive thing. So there´s not much to discuss about that.
I've followed this whole story – her journey – as it has evolved since then and it's just mindblowing. Also the disgusting hatred from white men, always on the far right. So sad to see that.

I think she is real trailblazer. People are saying that she is being exploited but that suggests that there is someone behind the scenes that is benefitting from exploiting her. Who? The adults around her (including her parents) are not receiving fame and fortune so that proves the exploitation thing to be a load of BS. I find it stupidly funny how adults sit on the internet spreading hate about a teenager showing care for the enviroment, whatever you believe in climate change or not we can all agree that plastic doesn't belong in nature, recycling is good, and there need to be less waste, like even doing laundry or taking a s**t is more productive then what they're doing online with their hate.

It's her differences that make her so relatable and able to focus on what she is doing, it speaks volumes that we've been talking about our own impending doom and watching other species go extinct but shown very little action in making serious changes. I DO like her message. I do like the way she handles hatred. But the delivery of that message was too dramatic and too well thought trough to wake the right people up. Hey, you have czech name, so we're probably from the same country....if I am right, then why are you telling that trains don't go everywhere? You can get across all country just by trains. In my city, there are trolleybuses - running on electricity, and it work + it's eco-friendly. You can literally survive without a car here. I know, in USA, this is not possible, but still, we can find some alternative. Stop thinking like "this is impossible" and more like "what are the possibilities?" After all, we're the smartest species on this planet, we can find some sollution.
