If you imagine spending your sunset years surrounded by stunning nature and with your best friend by your side, you’re not alone!
Japanese photographer Yasuto took a series of heartwarming and wholesome photos of his grandmother and her dog, a Shiba Inu. And in the background—the jaw-droppingly gorgeous landscape that the Land of the Rising Sun is known for.

Photographer Yasuto captured the friendship between his grandmother and her dog during different seasons. So the backdrop is spectacularly vibrant and different in every shot.
The photographer stated on Twitter that he regretted never having the chance to take photos of his grandfather. Which is why he made sure to snap lots of pics of his grandma! Incredibly wholesome, don’t you agree?
For those of you who have always wanted to visit Japan and went starry-eyed at the sight of cherry blossoms in the pics (just like I did), you can find the forecast right here. At the time of writing, the forecast for sakura to bloom in Tokyo was between the 18th and the 26th of March.
And for those of you who couldn’t take your eyes off the Shiba Inu (just like me, again), you’re probably wondering what they’re like to raise.
According to Shiba Shake (who, as their name suggests, are madly in love with these dogs), Shiba Inu are very independent and very clean. In fact, they’re more akin to cattos than doggos!
They’re easy to toilet train. They’re also excellent guard dogs. They’re as graceful as elves. And as energetic as hobbits. Or five-year-olds who ate too much candy. What’s more, Shiba Inu are incredibly bright, learn commands quickly, and have a larger than life personality! If this dog-cat hybrid sounds too perfect, you’re right. Shiba Inu can be very stubborn, a tad manipulative, and can be prone to fits of drama.
I'm about to cry. You're photos make me miss my grandmother's, especially my great grandmother. Can I borrow your grandma, along with her Shiba? I have a Shiba she can play with. They can be friends.
the perspective in these photos are amazing! well done. your subjects are also very cute
Oh, so beautiful! Cherish your Grandmother and her precious Shiba. Lots of love in your pictures.
That is a very contented pup, who just loves the calm and peaceful life with grandma.
The flowers are stunningly beautiful in these photos! Grandma and Shiba are adorably cute!
Absolutely beautiful photos, both of the countryside, dog and, of course, your grandmother.

I liked all photos, but the most favorable to me are the ones showing everyday life, like when Grandma sews. Also liked how it's clear that she talks to her doggo, which is great :) More people loving animals and world will be better!
Two things of note in these photos. The first is seeing the bond between the lady and her dog. It's the love, trust, thankfulness and faith they have and show each other. The second is the talent the grandson has to create such beautifully composed photographs. Not only do they show the relationship between his grandmother and her dog but also captures the beauty of their surroundings. I find the cherry blossom and sunflowers as well as the mountains particularly striking.
Sincere love they have for each other, the shots are extremely beautiful, well done, with the lovely flowers available, including all seasons, seeing grandma and pup so very happy, thanks for this special post !!!
Lovely to see the happiness, grandma with her best friend, warms my heart, the photography is excellent !!!
A picture says a thousand words but yours say more. My imagination of how beautiful Japan must be is most certainly lacking from the truth that these photos express. You have demonstrated your Grandmother's love for her dog and vice-versa with well thought out compositions that are not only pleasing to the eye, but relaxing to the soul. Please continue documenting life through your eyes so we can all enjoy your point of view. Congratulations on your continued success. Your Grandmother and Family must be proud. If I ever came to Japan, I would want you to be my tour guide!
I am very sorry if this sounds morbid, but I truly hope when when their time comes that they just peacefully fall asleep together... The thought that either would be left behind without the other just breaks my heart.......
Japan always shows sooooooo much beauty in their artwork. As in this suite. Very well composed, the colours and places well chosen. I would however like to see pics of them in natural places and poses in normal ordinary everyday life... The pic closest to that was I think the pic grandma sewing seen through a open window. I liked that best.
Simply breathtakingly and heartwarming, this posting shows the best of what Bored Panda has to offer.
