Mushrooms are often a favorite subject for macro photographers, but photographer and outdoor sports enthusiast Martin Pfister has found a refreshingly creative way to shoot these elegant and sometimes tasty fungi – he lights them up from behind with tiny LED bulbs to give them a magical glow! Pfister’s photos, most of which he captures using a Canon EOS 6D, have a subtle fairytale-like quality.
Mushrooms have captured the imagination of many a nature photographer. In fact, we found about him in our big list of awesome mushroom photography. Be sure to check out the rest of his awesome nature photos and the other macro mushroom photographers we’ve covered as well!

These are beautiful "enhancements" to the fungi - what I'd like to know is HOW DID YOU DO THE BACKGROUND? the settings are wonderful!
Beautiful, would mind living in a world where images like these were where-ever you looked.
Brilliant. I myself do this with flowers. It is fun, beautiful and sells well.
Beyond beautiful, I just love this. I love mushrooms and this brilliant effect really brings out their otherworldly loveliness.
A lovely concept, the delicacy of these beautiful creatures has not been impinged apon with the lighting at all. Hence, magical end result !!
