Girl Shares Things She Didn’t Know Made Sounds Before Getting Hearing Aids And It’s Heartwarming

Probably most of us take such things as birds chirping, the sound of rain, or even voices of our loved ones for granted. That doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate them but we just have to admit that it’s not something so awe-inspiring since it’s something so seemingly normal for us being humans. As it usually goes, the most appreciated things are those that you do not possess. This closely relates to today’s story about a girl being mesmerized by things she can finally hear after getting hearing aids. Scroll down to be reminded about those little joys in life as well!

Sometimes nature is just amazing! It is so amazing to know that people get to hear it, and so sad when they can't. I am rooting for you all!

As a person living with hearing aid I can totally relate. Without them I feel like I put my head under water.

I got bone conductive headphones that let me hear a full(ish) range for the first time since i was really small. My mum singing an old Gaelic song from my (and her) youth. I cried. SO HARD.

Best noise experience in the world is a thunderstorm. Flashes of light followed by rumbling..sometimes loud, sometimes soft. Sometimes lightening cracks loudly and makes you jump. But then theres the soft sound of rain hitting the ground outside your window and playing a drum solo on the roof of your house. And the icing on the cake is when the frogs come out and sing their chorus of joy at the rain...like their way of laughing. Welcome to the world of sound. Enjoy every minute.

Having just got aids I am still waiting on thunder but cicadas are just stellar. Rain has such an array of sounds so well stated!

I can relate the only down side is instead of people making you jump because you can't hear them coming random noises make me jump! I love her joy at it. Using a hearing loop in theatres has been brilliant.

Reminds me of when mum got hers, she had no idea that paper made a sound when dropped. She always commented on how loud the car horn is

My dad was the same - he was fascinated by the noise that toilet paper made when ripped along the perforated line. The most amazing thing is to see how much his confidence has improved, joining in conversations at the dinner table because he knows what's going on now.

Most people don't realize that health insurance does NOT cover hearing aids. Mine are 6 years old and I've replaced many parts and soon, they'll be un-fixable. Yet, I don't have $3500 to buy new ones. I'm crying as I type this.

I had sudden profound hearing loss in one ear. After it happened, I was laying in bed one morning on my good ear, and was shocked to not hear any birds chirping. When I turned over, suddenly, there they were. Couldn't hear them anymore in my bad ear. Very weird.

ERMAGHERD I know this feeling <3 I was so stunned when I first realised that I can not only feel my cat purring but EVEN HEAR IT :D But nevertheless EEEew i hate that earpiece. I have very small umbrella-shaped earpieces. I never got used to the bigger ones fully covering the auricle -.-"

The day I got my hearing aids I walked out of the office and noticed two things: the sound my shoes make on the carpet I walked upon (i"d never head that muffled swoosh sound before), and the fact that you can hear yourself pee. I did not know that peeing in a commode made a sound.

The audio world is amazing. The sound a soda can makes when you crack it open, the sound a handful of mud makes when you drop it, the sound of scotch tape as you peel it off the roll. The world is incredible. Be mindful of more of it. Next time you are in a city with skyscrapers...look up!

Try some music, like the "Ode to joy", it's part of the 4th movement of the 9th symphony by Ludwig Van Beethoven. He wrote (every instrument) of it AFTER going completly deaf so he never heard it like we do :( But he heard it in his head.

I was taking ASL classes back when cochlear implants were being developed and there was a big backlash from the deaf community about it possibly meaning the "death" of deaf culture and whether that was okay or not. I didn't take sides but I think stories like this have pretty much ended that battle.

My husband got new hearing aids and when he got home he said 'My clothes make a noise when I walk! And the keys jingle in the car! And the air-conditioner is so noisy! And you talk too loud!' I didn't mind that last one because I'd got used to speaking louder because he couldn't hear me properly before!

I have had 100% hearing loss in one ear for the last 11 years which causes very loud tinnitus. I hear well in the other ear but the tinnitus makes it so I can't hear all those small, subtle sounds and I really miss them.

But why SparrowBird5000 waited for four years to get new hearing aids, when she just got a daughter? Does the voice of your child not worth it?

Hearing aids are ridiculously expensive I'm pretty sure that she put her daughter first and that's why she couldn't afford them yet. I'm lucky I live in Britain and got free hearing aids not everyone is so lucky!
