Woman Is Sexually Assaulted On Street, But Attacker Doesn’t Realize What Is Hiding Beneath Her Innocent Look
26-year-old power-lifter and strength trainer Leanna Carr is from Colorado, and was visiting Dublin, Ireland, last week. Unfortunately, her experience there was not entirely positive. On April 21st, she uploaded a picture of her swollen knuckles on Twitter, caused by punching a man who sexually assaulted her on the street.
“While walking down the street in Dublin earlier this week, a man grabbed my butt,” she wrote. “He proceeded to laugh hysterically and said ‘you’re an American, you probably liked it’. Apparently traveling solo has made me a better person bc my first reaction was to punch him in the face.”
At first glance, Leanna looks like any other beautiful and sweet girl who, of course, attracts the attention of men. However, that is no reason to violate someone’s personal space with such behavior, and the guy who did so got the response he deserved. For many women, sexual harassment is a painfully uncomfortable topic which makes you feel confused and violated, and that leads to just keeping everything to yourself. Not in Carr’s case, though. “I am never a violent person, and I have never punched anyone before… but I became so angry and had so much adrenaline that my reaction was to punch him. I got him on the cheekbone, hard,” she told The Irish Independent. She admits that if the attack had happened in a not so public place, she wouldn’t have had quite the confidence to react this way. But since it happened in daytime, and on a busy street, Carr realized that she must teach the man a lesson.
After the adrenaline had gone, she wasn’t so sure about her decision. But her Twitter post has received the full support of both women and men, with over 25k likes. Only a few people weren’t sure if the story was true, since they couldn’t believe someone might experience such thing in Dublin.
“Maybe you haven’t seen it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen,” Carr says in response. “No matter what country you’re in. Sexual harassment happens every day from complete strangers and most women do not know the correct way to respond.
“In the past, I probably would have felt too shocked and timid to have dealt with the situation. I probably would have just walked away… and that man probably would have continued to prey on innocent women,” admits Leanna. “I never use Twitter and didn’t write the post for attention, but I’m glad it went viral. This is something that is very common and hopefully, it encourages more women to feel comfortable and able to stand up for themselves if it does happen to them.

Share on FacebookIf a man was ever brave enough(or stupid enough) to grab a strange guy's butt in the street he would fully expect a punch in the face - equal rights
How many very serious assaults ..or worse .. could have been warded of by sharp and hard punch to the face by the victim BEFORE the attacker got chance to overpower her??
Load More Replies...there was once a time when a reaction in the moment was how something like this was dealt with, then as time went on, people didn't react out of fear of being sued. People lost opinions, the right to react, all down to effectively money and blame. Maybe this could be the start of people getting themselves back. She reacted correctly after being dealt with incorrectly.
Sexual harassment met with violence? Yes, since that seems to be the only way those f*****s understand. Keep your freaking hands to yourself if you don't want to get punched in the face, it's that simple. If every women would react this way and not blame herself for those actions, those a******s would learn it much faster.
To the person who asked if a woman should be punched in the face for sexual harassment - well....yes. If that is how you defend yourself, and if that is how your brain reacts in order to protect yourself, get 'em.
I don't get the "if i a man punched a woman it would be wrong" mentality. People have a right to defend themselves when attached, regardless of gender.
Load More Replies...I wonder what that guy told his friends or his girlfriend/wife why he had a black eye. I'm sure he made it seem as if he fought of a mugger twice his size, lol.
Margie has a point. In my country she might be in trouble for punching him in the face, too, though. (Although the inversion is a bit ludicrous. Why do people always do this 'what if a woman does this? thing, How often does that actually happen?? If there is such an epidemic of sexual harrassment from women I'll happily support a metoo movement from the the blokes) Still like the story and hope to read many more of them so that maybe, eventually, at some point the last ape will have understood that this kind of behaviour is despicable and unexcusable.
I gotta say, I've never once been sexually harassed. I don't know any other men who have been. I know it does happen often, but you're right, I don't think it's near the proportions that it happens to women.
Load More Replies...I believe it happened. When I was in the Navy in Yokosuka, Japan, one of my female subordinates, Wendy, lifted weights. She was out on a little-used part of the Navy base, guy jumps her, she beats the living snot out of him, end of story .... almost. A couple of days later, she's sitting in the movie theater and overhears a guy in front of her telling his friends how he was jumped by three guys who made the bruises on his face. She looked at him, recognized him, and proceeded to embarrass him by telling his friends he was beat up by one girl. It brings a smile to my face every time I think of it.
Grabbing someone's behind, is an assault, and whoever gets grabbed has every right to protect their persona. If they get floored, the bigger the fool them for trying it, and i'd say that they would be quite deserving.
Seriously - if any man thinks those are "sexy" pictures - he should go back to his egg white omlette and get a life. Strong woman - acting for all of us
She's a very attractive woman and the effort she puts in at the gym shows. Doesn't give another person the right to touch though. And the pictures are hot because she works to look that way. Sexy is strong and confident, and that she is.
Load More Replies...Margie is an idiot. for one, I don't know of any woman who would just walk up and squeeze a guys a*s. if they did, they should expect repercussions. so yes, sexual assault met with physical assault is a correct way to take care of things
Yep, Judith, unfortunately there are still quite a few neanderthals roaming the streets. At least this one learnt a few 21st century lessons.
@SexyEggPlant I know, but I'm from Ireland and I know how aggressive guys can be there.
Violence is never the solution, but that guy who grabbed Leanna's butt most likely assumed all women were weak and wouldn't fight back. I feel like he deserved it because it showed him that women aren't always weak and vulnerable.
Love this lady! And to all her naysayers, I hope you all meet Leanna in a dark alley one day!
Why is everyone in here like "and if the role was reversed".... Well it wasn't this is just another day as a attractive female. This happens all the time to women everywhere so stop with the "well what if a female grabbed a guys but" Women have been oppressed, suppressed and disenfranchised by men who sexualize them all throughout recorded history. When that changes we can talk about the "What If's"
I don't think that that punch hurt him if her knuckles are swollen that much. probably aimed for the cheek.
Just don't get guys like this. Yes she is very attractive but why not just try to talk to her or even give her some flowers and ask for her number! (cheesy but I lack imagination in these things). Grabbing her butt is neanderthal at best, assault at worst and not going to get a positive reaction.
I say good for her. But after scrolling through the comments I see plenty of comments with people thinking guys would never get raped by a woman. I was raped by a woman who was not a stranger to me and it was an experience I still feel sickened by.
If that was me i would probably roundhouse kick him, than pin his arm behind his back!
If a man did hit a woman for grabbing his butt people won't think twice about it and get mad with the man because people don't really think it would happen of course I would do and i'd get away with it with my age
Here’s a good rule: don’t say/do anything to a woman on the street that you wouldn’t want said/done to you in prison...
The Twitter comment said we have police in Ireland. We don't, we have Gardai ;)
Dude no just no shut up this is wrong dont do this
Load More Replies...So it's not f****d up for the guy to sexually assault a stranger? She should have just brushed it off? I think you're the twisted one.
Load More Replies...Isn't it fun how people like you immediately wish to know if you can hit a woman? Equality doesn't exist because you aren't supposed to hit someone who maybe isn't as strong as you? What a weird way of thinking.
Load More Replies...Were you ever sexually harrassed? Probably not. So why these judgements?
Load More Replies...1) That has nothing to do with this. 2) He clearly isn't your boyfriend's friend.
Load More Replies...Hey look everyone, I found the guy who think it's okay to grab complete strangers by the a*s. You sound like an angry piece of s**t, Jackson. I'm guessing if some big gay dude did this to you, you'd have the same reaction she had.
Load More Replies...Yeah, yeah she really is. See, if he hadn't been a disgusting perv, she wouldn't have had to resort to that. Get it?
