This Girl Forgot To Change The Template Photo In Her Resume, Sent It Out To Her Employer

Life can be quite unfair sometimes and we all know that. There comes a time when we mess up really badly and regret it immediately. Maybe we say something wrong at the wrong time, or do something really embarrassing. That’s exactly the life lesson Marissa Sidwell had to learn after she did an oopsie.

Marissa just finished university and started to send out job applications. After sending one out, she quickly realized the mistake she’d made. Marissa forgot to change the picture in the application template to her own. So she ended up sending out an application with a photo that looks nothing like her. She filmed this whole endeavor and looked in complete shock.

More info: tiktok.com | Instagram

Here’s the video of  Marissa regretting what she’s done

@marissasid21You think you’re having a bad day? I just sent this resume without changing the template picture (repost cuz y’all spammed my number) ##fyp♬ original sound – Marissasid21

Marissa Sidwell made a tiny mistake while sending her resume to a new job

Marissa is a 21-year-old, fresh out of Florida Atlantic University. She was looking forward to getting started on her career and gaining some very needed experience. But of course, life had plans to play a trick on poor Marissa. At least now she will pay much closer attention to her resume, which is also a very good lesson to learn.

She forgot to change the photo in the premade application form

After being posted on TikTok, Marissa’s video got around 3 million views; however, she had to repost because she forgot to blur out her number. People were making jokes and trying to cheer Marissa up, saying that if the employer doesn’t give her a job, she shouldn’t work there at all, because they have no sense of humor. Many people said that you shouldn’t even add a picture to the resume anymore. The most important thing is that Marissa just laughed it off later and joined the fun in the comments.

As of now, Marissa’s video has about 4 million views, almost half a million likes, and about 9 thousand comments. She creates videos based on trends on TikTok. Usually, her videos are funny, light-hearted, and sweet.

Marissa will probably start paying closer attention to what she sends her future employers

Show some support for Marissa and follow her on her social media! It’s very brave of her to share such a mistake with millions of people. Not all of us have the guts to own up to our mistakes!

Sending a CV with a slip in it is no big deal, particuarly if it is a funny slip. Posting your CV online is a big deal. Posting your full contact details online and risking it going viral is outright stupid.

This isn't a minor mistake and if she was smart, she wouldn't have shared it. She also shouldn't post anything with personal information. Now this "minor mistake" will be associated with her name online for all future employers to see.

Her resume has now been seen by over a million people - If she had just quietly corrected it, she'd be just another applicant getting rejected by a bored HR person scanning CVs for keywords. I bet her chances of getting a job have increased a few hundred fold.

Sending a follow up email to the potential employer to explain wouldn't hurt. No one wants to hire someone who won't own up to their mistakes.

Well, she surely won't be hired for her "attention to detail". I hate to be that person, but I also feel like this was entirely staged to get her more attention on her TikTok account. Pretty pathetic when it comes down to it. Can we stop giving these TikTokers the attention they crave? (God, I must be getting old..) Also, how the hell is she fresh out of Uni when the date of her "fake resume" says August 2027 TO MAY 2021 of this year. Hmmm, I smell a fish and it stinks.

Wow, the difference between your face in the video and the photos are unreal, literally. Either a s**t load of makeup or a s**t load of editing, or both I think. Talk about false advertising...

The file's name is still "Document 1" meaning she was still writing it. A text editor will ask you to save a file with a name, not just simply "Document 1". She made it up.

It could also prevent her from getting the job. Think about it. Even though she attractive, would you want someone making mistakes? No one is perfect but a resume you would think people would make sure everything is good on it. It's one thing an employer will think about especially if she's going to handle important accounts or whatever.

You DO NOT SEND A PHOTO IN A RESUME!!! This can't be a real thing! This just makes it that much easier for companies to be biased intentionally or unintentionally against people for thier age, their gender, their ethnicity, etc. Holy cow. If this is the US, we are moving in the wrong direction. People fought hard to pressure companies to not discriminate based on these things, and now this. Companies shouldn't even see your name (since there is evidence that people are biased against names).
