This reminds me of a church sanctuary or auditorium in an art or history museum!

In the US, these sanitoriums were super scary looking.

I lived about a mile from one in Eden Prairie, MN and would walk there to catch the bus downtown. It was still functional and the howls of the people there was so haunting. I could hear them from outside. It was originally a TB recovery place back when Minneapolis didn't have many suburbs. Eventually it was torn down and I think turned into a golf course. No doubt that land is haunted. EDIT: This was early to mid 1980s, but the building was a century old. I also rented an apartment in an old mental institution in Albany, NY and that was DEFINITELY haunted.
