Shopping for everyday items after a long day at work is that mundane task some of us truly dread. There's just something so annoying about an overly helpful shop assistant when you just want to shop in peace. And some supermarkets are so big that you can spend 20 minutes just looking for the cheese section.
However, some stores have found ways not to only solve most of the problems, but to make shopping more fun. These genius ideas collected by Bored Panda, are found in various superkarkets and stores all over the world. Which ideas would you like to implement in your local supermarkets? Meanwhile, in France and others Europeans country... Scan-59bc5...74d293.jpg
i just wrote this above... improving the system would be exactly this system.
Load More Replies...I just use the scanner (like self check out as you shop) at my store, so helpful!
That is awesome. Can't believe this hasn't caught on everywhere. This is perfect
we had it where we shopped. it took far too long plus the machines were always going wrong. It didn't last long.
They could add a barcode reader, though. Sometimes the price is not what we think, and it would be faster to scan than to enter. Or they could provide that information in some app, so you could scan with phone and get correct price with discounts and everything.
Just to improve the system, a barcode reader and a debit/credit card interface... you insert the card, which allows the cart to run, every product you insert, creates a list, at the end, you confirm, the card is charged and take products to home.
Great idea! Easier than fumbling with your cell phone to use its' calculator....it's right there in front of your face. Very helpful if you have to stay on a budget!!
I NEED THIS!!! I'm quite an anxious person and I have the need to know the total amount I have to pay before going to the cashier... :s
This is brilliant, i mean im too lazy myself to do the counting but i still do it
And then, there's Switzerland: http://www.alamy.de/stockfoto-ein-handheld-subito-selfscanning-gerat-fest-mit-einem-warenkorb-in-einem-migros-supermarkt-in-zurich-schweiz-75547273.html
Awesome idea, I usually have my partner adding things up on my phone while I shop xD
so the store doesnt steal any money from you (as they do here lol)
I remember seeing shopping carts with a manual (not electronic) adding device in the early 1970s.
Hmmm.... this might be great for customers but pose a business challenge for the supermarket whose main agenda IS to make customers shop for more than what they budgeted for initially.... If i had this on my cart, i would start calculating and putting things back coz i'm now conscious of the money i am spending.
Hahah works great until your toddler sitting up in the cart starts hitting all of the buttons are you turn around to reach for a packet of rice off of the shelf and come back to find a total of $4,380,930.00! Hhahahah
This is awesome. But you know what wold make it even MORE AWESOME? If it had a scanner built in, so you can scan your item, and the price shows up and if you have a customer loyalty card, it adjusts the price for specials sales, discounts, etc.... Love this idea! What do you guys think?
Wow! This is a very nice idea. I hope supermarkets here would adapt this.
That would just defeat the purpose of the predatory pricing they always have. Items are priced at 5.99 and not 6.00 because of this. If you had a calculator you could actually see the total, which would make such a pricing scheme pointless.
This is really outdated. We have barcode scanners to see all what you have put in your cart
Yes but you can add your groceries up to see that you don't overspend. It's not outdated. I use my cellphone calculator. To this day.....

This is so genius. Sometimes I enter a store, especially perfume or makeup, and the assistant follows me like a shadow of mine. What I do is just leave, even if I really wanted to buy an item. Shops should realize that this hurts their profits rather than increasing their sales.

So many great ideas that i really like but on the down side I also see how a lot of these add to cost or leave a store vulnerable to costly litigation. It comes down to how much extra people are willing to pay for an enhanced shopping experience.
Some if these are sooooo smart and usefull!! They should put them in all stores!
How can you be only 12 years old Flinkie!? You seem so smart!
Load More Replies...I've seen the "free fruit" basket at my grocery store the last few months. It's usually empty, so I guess the staff doesn't refill it in the afternoons. Anyway, last time I was there, a father told his kid not to touch anything in the basket because "everyone else has touched that food." I'm all for being careful with your kids, but does this guy think that nobody touches his food when he is in the produce section picking out fresh vegetables or fruit?
Great ideas but many of them already appeared on Bored Panda and it wasn't only once or twice. I liked to see the new ones though.
