Sometimes we get so used to everyday life, it becomes hard to imagine that things can be different. But they can. Whether it's out car getting scratched in the parking lot or our poop splashing in a public toilet so loud, everyone knows what we're doing, if there's a problem, there's a solution. Bored Panda has collected a list of genius ideas that have the potential to make some our day-to-day struggles go away, and while you in particular might not benefit from all of them, you'll still probably appreciate the effort that went into making them a reality.

The Bathroom At My Doctor's Office Has A Discreet Way For Victims Of Abuse, Violence, Or Human Trafficking To Get Help
The number is rather clever as well. The way it's written, it's a visual mnemonic device, meaning it helps the human memory to remember it. 888-3737-888 - with the differing numbers in red. Useful for someone who's in a hurry and can't write it down.
A Sign In The Women’s Bathroom For Those Who Feel Unsafe On A Date
'Ask For Angela' is a relatively new campaign designed to reduce sexual abuse on nights out. It originated in a pub in Lincolnshire, England, in 2016 and since then, it has received worldwide attention and has been adopted by bars and clubs across the globe.
This is so compassionate and wonderful. I hope it's also available for men. The statistics for men being victimized and abused are surprisingly high.
My Local Vet Has A Sign And Candle For When Someone's Pet Is Dying
As heartbreaking as it is to say goodbye to your pet, it's what most of them need during their final moments. "I beg you DO NOT LEAVE THEM,” a message shared by Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic in South Africa read. "Do not make them transition from life to death in a room full of strangers in a place they don’t like. The thing you people need to know that most of you don’t is that they search for you when you leave them behind. They search every face in the room for their loved person. They don’t understand why you left them when they are sick, scared, old, or dying from cancer and they need your comfort.”
This Park Has A Swing For Wheelchair Users
The freefall that these swings provide is about 4.3 feet (1.3m) and they can safely take on a load of up to 4,400 pounds (2,000 kg). Moreover, the rope pull included within the design allows those with upper body mobility to swing themselves independently.
I love this idea! Every park should incorporate these swings so the disabled children are never left out!
These Lines Go Up The Wall So You Can Park Perfectly In-Between The Lines
Everyone wants to drive until it's time to park in a cramped corner. This particular one was found in Seattle, under the Amazon Go store. And even though the driver on the left didn't back backwards, it actually has a lot of benefits. Most importantly, reversing into a parking space gives you greater control and makes it easier to manoeuvre out the space. Avoiding reverse parking usually leads into much more difficult situations, trying to wiggle your car out of a tight space when you parked front-first.
A Color Blind Viewer
The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Tennessee State Parks have partnered to install “color blind” viewfinders at five state park locations across the state. In total, there are 11 of them installed in Tennessee.
In Singapore The Elderly Can Tap Their Identity Card To Have More Time At The Pedestrian Crossing
Swiping the card at a sensor gives its holder an extra 3 to 13 seconds to walk across, depending on the size of the crossing.
My Moms 3D Printed Cast. She Can Take A Shower With It!
For everyone wondering, it's held together with zip ties. From scan to cast, it took the woman about 2 weeks to get it. While the company printed it in just a few days, the longest part of the process was drafting the print and shipping it from Colorado to Florida.
This Toilet Flushes By Using Your Foot
This mechanism is located in a toilet in Mexico and you don't have to be a germaphobe to appreciate it. Unsanitary public toilets can lead to gut infections, lung and skin infections as well as STDs. If a stool doesn't look clean but you really need to use it, consider using tissue paper to open its door, using the toilet seat cover, and if there isn’t one, cleaning the toilet seat with a tissue paper before using it or even hovering closely above the toilet.
This is actually pretty common in europe. Same system for the water to wash your hands..
This Hexagonal Graph Paper For Organic Chemistry
Ideal for chemistry notes and practice, the non-intrusive lines also allow legible note taking if there's anything you need to write down.
Sure its not for designing D&D dungeons? I mean, I love organic chemistry but I know what I'd spend every chemistry lesson doing if I had that...
My Grocery Store Started Selling Overripe, Discount Bananas With A Recipe For Banana Bread On The Bag
This solution comes at a time when it's needed the most. Americans waste 150,000 tons of food each day – equal to a pound per person. Also, fruit and vegetables were the most likely to be thrown out, followed by dairy and then meat.
By the way, interestingly enough, banana bread is actually a somewhat young dish. It first became a standard feature of American cookbooks with the popularization of baking soda and baking powder in the 1930s.
This Shop Has A Option To Shop Alone Or With Assistance
The shop is located in UAE, Dubai. For the complete antisocial experience, bring earphones.
This Dish Soap Lists The Purpose For Each Ingredient
It's a great way of making people less afraid of this kind of products. Chemicals ten do have weird names, so people think weird things about them. Explaining each in plain language for non-chemists is a great idea.
I Adapted A Rubik's Cube For The Blind
Rubik's Cubes for blind people have been available for some time now. For example, the Braillecube is an attempt to adjust this timeless toy to the needs of people with impaired vision - the design makes them "feel" the colors. The first letters of the color are written on the cube in braille in the order of the colors on the original cube.
As of January 2009, 350 million cubes had been sold worldwide making it the world's top-selling puzzle game.
The Hotel I Am Staying At Has The Fire Evacuation Plans At Ground Level So You Can See Them If Smoke Has Filled The Hallways
This is especially thoughtful considering that smoke inhalation is the primary cause of death for victims of fires. Some 50–80% of all fire deaths are the result of smoke inhalation injuries, including burns to the respiratory system.
Washing Your Hands To Flush The Toilette
Urinal-sink combos like this save water by reusing the hand-washing water to rinse out the urinal. Presumably, it could also allow bathrooms to be more compact and less expensive to install, as it replaces two appliances with one, thus requiring less plumbing works.
Supermarket Trolleys In Sweden Have A Map Of The Supermarket
It's about time we got something like this. Rick Paulas of the Pacific Standard has compared the current design of many grocery stores to casinos. "There are lights and sounds that re-focus attention every micro-second, carpet on the ground to offer cushion for our feet, an open-flow space from the slot machines to the poker tables to the roulette. But what's more important is what's not there: clocks on the wall, bathrooms, escape routes. The reason is obvious — can't spend money if you're not present—and they point toward why supermarkets attempted to get their customers lost."
There is a reason this isnt a thing everywhere. Supermarket dont want you to know where things are, they want you to be slow, look at everything and buy more.
This Stall For Your Dog Outside A Super Market In Copenhagen
No petting, no taunting, no questionable treats, perfect! Just don't plan to spend the night there yourself. A writer for The Outline tried a similar booth and apparently they have cameras/sensors watching and the company will fine people who get in.
I would definitely put both of my kids in this, my dog never asks for every damn thing in the store.
Perfectly Flat Floor, Designed To Stop People From Running In The Hallway
The design, partly inspired by Alice in Wonderland, took more than 400 tiles to create.
This Bathroom In The Atlanta Airport Has Lights To Let You Know If A Stall Is In Use
Manufactured by Tooshlights, the smart latch and deadbolt communicate wirelessly with the indicator light. When the stall is available, the light is green. When the stall is occupied and the smart latch or deadbolt is locked, the light illuminates red.
This is actually terrific bc ATL airport is one of the busiest airports in the U.S. It's easier to just see a light than to get halfway down and realize the door is shut only to walk back and the next person in line is taking a just open stall that u missed bc u were checking another one. This helps save time too when you're rushing to get to a flight and have to go! Literally "go". ;)
A Public Bike Stand With A Built-In Pump
This cool multi-purpose mechanism was photographed in Utrecht, the Netherlands. And this doesn't come as a surprise. Cycling is a common mode of transport in the Netherlands, with 36% of the people listing the bicycle as their most frequent mode of transport on a typical day.
My School Just Installed A CVS Vending Machine Full Of Medicine And Hygiene Products
To help customers navigate this new shopping experience, the vending machines, will feature a 22" multi-touch screen, displaying high resolution images with expansive product information and more.
My Local Car Wash Has A Gun For Kids That Shoots Soap Suds At The Cars Going Into The Car Wash
A professional car wash requires only 5 – 8 minutes on average and typically use up to 50% less water than at home washes. Now, it's a lot more fun, too!
A Business Card For Kids Who Are Allowed To Go Places By Themselves
The organization behind the campaign, Let Grow, state that "treating today’s kids as physically and emotionally fragile is bad for their future, and [the] country's. With an unpredictable and rapidly changing economy ahead, kids need to be flexible, creative problem-solvers. They can’t solve their problems if adults are always right there, solving them first!"
Love this. Especially the stats on it being safer today. Fear is a powerful thing, and unfortunately fear mongering is a huge business.
Except the last stat is WRONG. Child abuse, molestation, sex trafficking is at an all time high.
Load More Replies...Well, I guess it depends on the neighbourhood and/or country this kid is wandering around in...
Very much so....a kid doing that in my city would very likely never be seen again.
Load More Replies...This is awesome. When I was a kid (in NYC no less!) mom would say 'go to the park!'. That was Central Park. We would go with the other kids in our building and catch tadpoles and crawdaddys and bring them home. She taught us to ride the subway when we were about 8, 9, and 10 (me the youngest, and my two older brothers). That independence has served me well.
It's kind of sad that children should carry this around to warn others that they are just "free range" children that actually are playing outside with their parent's consent. Not that that won't stop people to call the police and CPS on them. Because letting your child play outside is child abuse and not vaccinating them is "a right to choose not to vaccinate." /S
I'm gonna print this one right away and keep with me when I'm drunk.
People in my town wouldn’t care if they saw a kid walking by themselves... I would do it but I don’t go anywhere by myself because apparently it’s fun to drive slowly along whistling and yelling “hey girl” at a 15 year old?
hopefully the day will come when this isn't an issue. won't be for a long time tho since men in general get offended when anyone finds them offensive. then they cry the why they think only little girls do. we need to bring our boys up better. I am hopeful for the next generation.
Load More Replies...kids need to learn as they grow. make decisions, make mistakes, take responsibility for and correct those mistakes. how can they do this with constant supervision?
What times do we live in where children aren't allowed to be children anymore. I spent my entire childhood roaming free. Kids these days have it rough!
It's sad we need this. I walked to school a mile when I was in first grade! No problem!
I agree. My mother was fine with my being "free range", BUT I had to be within "yelling distance"....I should be close enough to home that if she walks out and yells for me to come in, I can hear her. The only time there was trouble was when I strayed outside the "yelling zone"...lol
Load More Replies...From what I have heard, yes. Part of this is due to news and how they report things but another part is I believe because many can't seem to differentiate between local and national news. I think many see what is reported on the news and somehow subconsciously translate that all that happening in their own town, or even part of town, making so that all of the hundreds or thousand of incidents could happen to them rather than just a small fraction of the incidents.
Load More Replies...My kids were free range kids. There were times when this would have come in real handy
GREAT! So many of us are too paranoid to let kids be kids these days. I grew up "free range," but my parents lectured me about what dangers lurked out there, and to let them know where I planned to go and when I planned to be back so they wouldn't worry.
That's what we did. Also, we knew boundaries, and always stayed in our own neighborhood.
Load More Replies...One thing I love about our neighborhood is that kids DO play out front, and range up and down the street between houses. They're not just back yard kids or play-date kids, they can play without Mommy there making sure nobody ever does anything mean to little Susie. Kids need that to learn social skills and just have unstructured fun!
I want this! I was afraid to let my kids play alone in the front yard for a awhile because I'd heard some people were calling children services if they didn't see a parent right there with the kids. I sat on the porch. Now I'm over it, know more people in the neighborhood, and let my kids walk around the block. I think this summer I might let them walk to the library alone as well (block and a half away).
when I was a kid, my mom worked. after about ten or eleven, I started running around on a ten-speed bike. The library was about an hour away- I wasn't exactly fast on my bike. I'm pretty sure there were times where I just had to have that next book and forgot to mention it to my mom (who got home first).
Load More Replies...The idea of a card is fine, but "Huckleberry Finn" is not exactly an endorsement for free range parenting.
Ya' think? Pehaps Pap was just misunderstood, not an abusive drunk?,
Load More Replies...I just taught my kid to tell people "mind your business" and walk away.
you should teach 'em to kick 'em in the shins first. :)
Load More Replies...I fondly remember my free-range 1970s childhood. My favorite thing in summer was walking to the city pool with my friends where we had season passes. We changed into our swimsuits without a parent, swam all afternoon without a parent (there were two lifeguards but that was it), walked home without a parent, then hung out in the yard without a parent until dinnertime. It was wonderful.
Compare that to this past summer in my new city, where the local zoo has some awesome playground equipment, probably left over from another era. For every child on it, there was an adult right there on the equipment with them, guiding their every tiniest move, hands-on guiding them down the slide, making sure they didn't climb, crossing rope bridges while hanging on tight to the child-leash. It was completely alien to me.
Load More Replies...Love this but sad it has to exist! Stop hovering mom and dad and let them grow!
It really depends on the kid, and their circumstances. My (small stature and adorable) son learned self defense tactics and was a black belt in Kung fu by age 11, He knew better self defense than most adults! Even so, I worried about sending him out alone because he was a bit of a dreamer, and could easily forget to "look both ways" etc, so I had him go out with his more area aware (but younger) friend down the street. They learned from each other, and grew into phenomenal teenagers, with their self confidence intact.
My Dad and I were talking once and he told me when my brother and I were teenagers in the mid-70’s, my brother was riding his bike on a trail out by the Forest Preserve Glenview, IL. He was alone, and at the end near a fence and some houses-basically, I guess some kind of dead end. He noticed a nearby car with two men had been creeping up onto the bike path blocking his way. Somehow he was able to throw the damned bike (he had a bad feeling and didn’t want to wait around to find out what they wanted) over the fence, and was able to hop over after it , apparently as the men were getting out. My brother ran to the first house screaming, no one was home, then to the next and then called my Dad to come pick him up. They didn’t call the police or even tell me (because, WTF, they didn’t want to scare me- how ‘bout warn me). My Dad never even thought about John Wayne Gacy until one of his poor customer’s sons was missing after doing some work for that bastard and I’m not sure what happened.
I'm just curious about what the age qualification is for a child to have one of these cards.
If I ever have kids, I'm gonna eventually get them one of these... anyone know where to get one?
I'm sure the pervs and pedophiles will read these and immediately change their minds about rapping, kidnapping, and murdering the 'let grow' kids.
You DO know that most of the crimes you mention are committed by people that are known to and trusted by their victims? Do you really think that "nice" uncle Harry is waiting for his nephew or niece to play outside to grab them?
Load More Replies...Here's the thing--are abduction rates lower BECAUSE we're more careful with our kids and don't let them out alone?
I definitely think this is a great idea as long as the "wrong" children cannot obtain one when they are not "sanctioned" by a parent or guardian to have one.
This has to be the dumbest idea I've ever seen I would never let one of my grandkids Walk Alone
You know what'll happen right? Someone will go up to kids asking them if they have this id, when the kid goes to get it out, the person will grab them while distracted. If the kid doesn't have one, they'll say they have to take the kid back to their parents until they get one, then drive off with them. Short sighted-thinking here.
Omg, did you grow up locked away indoors and never played outside with other kids unsupervised?
Load More Replies...This Pizza Box Can Be Torn In Half And Folded To Create A Smaller Box For Leftovers
To make your leftover pizza taste better, experts suggest reheating it face down in a pan and adding water to the bottom of the skillet. If you have to use a microwave, however, add a glass of water in there to avoid soggy crust.
This Car Park In France Has Soft Barriers Between Parking Spaces To Stop People Scratching Other Cars
Probably gets people to park between the lines better, too! Just think of all the a**hole drivers that will be unable to use multiple spots at once!
The Inside Of The Pizza Box Was A Tuxedo
The organization behind the idea, Pizza Bib, offer custom designed boxes both outside and inside. "While sitting on the couch after a few too many beers our founder Jack decided to order his favorite pizza. Wearing his brand new t-shirt, he decided to use the ordinary pizza box as a bib, keeping his brand new t-shirt clean he thought about how you could add fun designs to keep himself clean and have a whole lot of fun."
This Menu In An Italian Restaurant, Is Shaped Like A Circle Showing You What The Type Of Pizza Would Look Like
This pizzeria is located in Prague, Czech Republic. According to the person who took this photo, "it's literally above the metro station of Chodov on the Red/C line!" If you still can't find it, just look for a sign that has a hotdog on it and says "Pizza." Ye, we know.
My Classroom Has A Mirror So We Can See Teacher's Counter When He’s Cooking
Commenting on this picture, some redditors remembered having the same setup in their Home Economics cooking classes all the way back in the 80s!
They watch him cook?? In Denmark we learn by doing in cooking class.
This Shoe Shop Has An Area To Test Your New Shoes, Containing Lego
Reportedly, this test "track" is located in a Leguanos store which sells the so-called barefoot shoes, really bendy shoes that supposedly make you feel like you're barefoot.
If a 25 years old man is caught building lego instead of walking on it, what is the punishment? Asking for a friend.
Don't know why, but periodically, on Bored Panda, there is an invasion of Super Smart People that have to comment every single picture with their negative and disruptive comments. Do they problem of lack of attention from other people? Why not just skipping BP and discharging your negativity on another similar website? Jeez, so annoying...
There are some really amazing ideas/solutions here that I would love to see used all over the world. Maybe we can all work together to get these constructed where needed. This thread also inspires me to come up with more ideas for people from all walks of life.
SAME!!! I was looking at the article earlier. I had to go somewhere without WiFi, but i left the tab on. When I got back I intended to be on #92, but I was on #12...bored panda, no offence, but you guys have GOTTA stop doing that.

It’s good to have a reminder that there are good, decent, thoughtful people in the world who have the ideas and energy to make it a better place for their fellow humans. Thanks.
The cast one was ingenious, I'm wearing a cast right now for my ankle surgery recovery. Everything becomes 100x harder when you can't walk and it's such a pain to shower. (Tip: Buy a knee scooter, not crutches. Your armpits will thank you.)
I remember being thankful I had a removable shower head so I could tie by leg up in a garbage bag and hang it out the side of the tub while I lay on my back. Sucked so much!
Load More Replies...I always thought designers should really listen to what people who actually use stuff have to say. Looking pretty doesn't mean something is designed well.it is also very refreshing to see how those who have been excluded from the simple pleasures that "normal" folk enjoy are now a part of design decisions. Work on the black hole interior of a woman's purse next. I have found stuff I hadn't seen since the third grade in some of my black interior bags. Screwdriver, superglue, Swiss Army knives, jellybeans with hair. It's an adventure. Nothing living so far.
Yup. LED lights on Christmas sweaters are a silly wasteful use of electronics; sticking one inside a purse would be clever. So would a gray or tan lining.
Load More Replies...I've seen the toilet light idea for car parking spaces in a multi storey carpark and wished that was done in more places, so annoying when you drive round a carpark for ages looking for a good space only to find a smart car or mini where you thought you could see a space
I know Stefano. It seems like people just want to complain about everything. Why? Did you know when they "started" the peace talks during the Korean War it took ONE YEAR to decide what shape the table would be!!!! One year! I wonder how many men, women and children died in that year. Unbelievable!
