Touching the handle to flush doesn't bother me, it's people who leave without washing their hands whatever flush device there is!!
I totally agree with you. I try to avoid public toilets as much as possible, but when I have to go, it always surprises me the number of people who don't wash their hands afterwards. It's even more surprising in restaurants or bars... I'm always tempted to shout: you are going to eat, for f*** sake!!!! Wash your hands!!!

Now this I love. I just hate touching anything in a public bathroom. I usually use my foot to flush the toilet.
If you wash your hands really well, you don't need this. You still need to touch the door to get out of the stall. Same hand that flushed touched the door.
And the door k**b is probably more full of germs than the button, because the toilet is usually cleaned quite often, but very few people bother to clean and disinfect the door k**b, or the light switches.

All toilets flush using your foot.... if you can balance on one leg well enough.
People are funny! Although I understand the need to be clean, I can't understand this kind of obsession. They don't want to press the button to flush the toilet... yeah, Ok. There are things which are far dirtier!!! They don't want to touch the button, but they touch the door k**b, the tap, the thingy that holds the toilet paper... and they probably flush without closing the lid, which lets the tiny drops of water, pee and everything else jump in all directions! 😂😂😂 Stop being irrational; germs are everywhere! Wash your hands frequently and stop worrying so much!
This is the precursor to sensor flushing toilets and urinals which most major cities have now a days. Hands free for almost entire visit. Water facets, soap dispenser, hand dryer and toilets. Only thing you've got to touch is yourself and the door handle which by the way, is the most contaminated surface in the entire bathroom.
I also think that the door handles are the perfect home for germs of all sorts. I'm not touching them with my bare hands (tissue or TP will help :)

I have always thought these pedals were much better than the hand levers.
Especially good for people who have arthritis, carpal tunnel or other problems with their hands. It can make it difficult to push a lever or button.

They used to have this at the faculty club at Stanford Univ. until they remodeled and now they have the automatic flushing toilets.

Washing your hands is much more effective than you expect! Even more-so if you use hand sanitizer afterwards. Also, what's going to be more dirtier than a toilet will be your phone. I guarantee that your phone will harbor much more strains of bacteria than any outside part of the toilet.

I haven't touched a flush handle on a public toilet once I learned how many terrible germs are on those handles. I always have an extra piece of toilet paper I can use for that and to open the door after I've washed my hands.
this is a fabulous idea! I've usually used my foot in public restrooms, but you have to be pretty athletic for some them.

Although, I hate it when they have one of those super awkward systems, when you have to pull down the thingie which is hanging out, on some type of chain, or a rope, cable, and they practically force you to grab that "item" (with your palm and all of your fingers, yuck:). Well this is awesome. If I use a public restroom I don't care what kind of handle is on the toilet I still use my foot to flush it.
I remember these in the 70s, back in Mexico, at the hospital where my parents worked.
I've seen these once, but I can't remember where. I do distinctly remember thinking, "This is genius!" since I'm enough of a public germaphobe to use my foot to flush where the toilets don't flush automatically.
I also appreciate when the seats have an extension on the side so you can lift it with your foot.
Best solution ever! I hate to touch the handle but I feel bad using my foot! I usually just grab, (and waste) extra tissue.

Every one saying "Wash your hands" Faucet handles are touched with dirty poopy hands in a public restroom, so you turn the water on and wash your hands, your hands are now clean, but you have to touch those same dirty poopy handles again to turn the water off. So now its as if you never washed. Not all public restrooms have automatic water faucets on the sinks. And what about opening the door to leave? Do you think the door handle is clean? I always thought designers should really listen to what people who actually use stuff have to say. Looking pretty doesn't mean something is designed well.it is also very refreshing to see how those who have been excluded from the simple pleasures that "normal" folk enjoy are now a part of design decisions. Work on the black hole interior of a woman's purse next. I have found stuff I hadn't seen since the third grade in some of my black interior bags. Screwdriver, superglue, Swiss Army knives, jellybeans with hair. It's an adventure. Nothing living so far.
