We have these in Turkey. Thing is, people get confused because you can see those green lights from the side too. It looks like green lights for everyone at first glance.

What's new about this? There are many such traffic lights in Moscow. They've been working for couple of years already
Terrific idea, with big trucks in the way at times unable to see the lights.
I would like to see digital timers at the intersections so people know how to they have to cross and how long they have before they should put the car into gear to start moving.
