There have been a lot of talks and discussions about how different generations are and how that affects them understanding each other and getting along. Having this in mind, Reddit user @Prolificvisions decided to ask: “Gen Z, what are some trends, ideologies, social things, etc. that millennials did that you're not going to continue?” The question that got 12.4k upvotes got generation Z naming things that they find weird and annoying, such as not having any privacy or choosing a stable job that they don’t like instead of going for their dream. They also named some of the rather funny answers such as getting rid of the fashion of “weird-a** eyebrows.”

If you are Gen Z, what things would you say “bye” to? Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below!

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. You don't get offended on other peoples behalf. You stand up for what is right because it is right.

Sorry, A Gen Z said this? Wouldn't they have been given a phone/tablet at a young age by their Millennial or Gen X parent? I mean, I agree. So many people in their early 20s/late teens that I've seen have horrible handwriting because they haven't practiced it enough. I'm not one to talk though. I have atrocious handwriting and I write all the time.

Young kids with learning games (math or reading based) are okay, especially those with learning disorders. The 'nose in your phone while at the dinner table' is just too much.

Y'all act like it's just a blanket negative. Like kids can't learn oceans of things by getting on the internet. Or like if they get on the internet, that must mean they never go outside. Also, phones can = safety. When I was a kid and had no way to contact my parents while out alone, I got into a decent number of situations where a cell phone would have come in REALLY handy.

I wonder, though, about kids having some autonomy with their own friends. I was allowed to call my friends and ask to come over at age 4. Do kids let their kids call the other kid's parents' phones and say, "Hello, can I talk to Johnny?"

disagree - eschewing something as integral to modern life as our phones is silly. introduce them at a *younger* age so they get over the novelty and start treating it as the indispensable tool that it is.

Define "young age"? 1? 2? 3? 4? ...? IMHO, if they can understand their primary language they can use a phone. The issue is how many hours they spend on it, and the dopamine hit involved in certain activities, which makes other activities (eg school) unrewarding. That's the issue.

Bit why should the next generation be any different to the generations before. Generations have been hating on those that came before and after since before we started assigning trendy labels to them. (Incidentally, what came before the Silent Generation?)

This. Even in a very progressive city in California, it was extremely normal to hear growing up in the 90s and I'm ashamed at how long it took me to understand how ignorant and hateful it is. Now I have a visceral reaction when my older siblings say it, and I try to encourage better ways of expressing themselves when I hear it!

30 Millennial Trends Gen Zers In This Online Group Are Sick And Tired Of Work for money, not for passion.

I know it’s depressing but recently a lot of younger millennials were talking about how they want to do something they like. My coach is getting a PhD in history, My economics teacher is going to Law School because she doesn’t make enough etc. and I just can’t think of a reason to justify that much debt. Basically they’re putting themselves in tons of debt to make enough money in something they enjoy. I can’t see a reason to justify it enough. I just want to find a field I’m GOOD at and don’t hate.

30 Millennial Trends Gen Zers In This Online Group Are Sick And Tired Of I say this as a "millennial" (though must point out the lines between the two are blurred aren't they?) -

Facebook

I have friends also in their early 30s who had kids young. In high school now, teenagers. NONE of that age group use Facebook. It's an "old person's thing" to them. Though being 12/13 it is invariably described as "gay", but you get my point.

As someone who works in the music industry, we plough literally millions (collectively) into Facebook ads each year. But within the next few years it will no longer be our primary social media target.

Which is a shame, because as one of the first and most established social media platforms, it has great advertising tools.
