Thanks to the internet, geek culture is becoming more and more accepted, but there are still places where people who love all things fantasy and sci-fi face withering discrimination. One brave imgur user whose girlfriend forbids him from having geeky stuff anywhere other than the basement shared images of the subtle and funny ways in which he resists her tyranny – which is mainly by hiding little geeky toys in hard-to-spot places.
There’s one catch, though – the guy’s basement is a geeky manchild’s paradise, complete with an arcade, a home theater, and a mouth-watering collection of videogames and boardgames. So who do you think is in the wrong?

Ugh, one of my biggest pet peeves is hearing someone say their significant other won't "allow" them something.
Well, living together often means compromising.. I'm not 'allowed' to paint the walls pink, my boyfriend can't have his Lego in every room.
Exactly and here everyone's like "dump her". Okay, so your understanding of mutual respect is "I can do whatever I want to but not the other person" or what? They can't just simply do two different styles. Their home would look like it was decorated by toddlers. And to be frank, his basement is tasteless. Ugly brown shelves, carpet flooring and toys everywhere. You can be a nerd without those darn toys. I know because I am one and don't own any kid's toys.

It's healthy as long as it doesn't bother them and it probably doesn't. Me and my partner have separate spaces for our hobbies, we still love each other more than anything in the world. Imo, you should have something in common but you shouldn't be too similar or it won't work, you won't evolve.
I don't understand too. Be geek is the coolest thing in the world :) I'm a geek and my boyfriend too. It's amazing be yourself!

and he keeps the stuff I'm not so keen on on his PC desk :D Works perfectly! Our own little space and then the rest is stuff we both like!

Do they both pay rent? Are both names on the lease? Then that should be a discussion, not a "You can't have them in the house!" statement.
The basement is awesome, I could definitely live here, but seriously, find another girlfriend, this one is not good enough for you.
