His Girlfriend Told Him He’s Not Allowed To Have Geeky Stuff In The House. Here’s What He Did

Thanks to the internet, geek culture is becoming more and more accepted, but there are still places where people who love all things fantasy and sci-fi face withering discrimination. One brave imgur user whose girlfriend forbids him from having geeky stuff anywhere other than the basement shared images of the subtle and funny ways in which he resists her tyranny – which is mainly by hiding little geeky toys in hard-to-spot places.
There’s one catch, though – the guy’s basement is a geeky manchild’s paradise, complete with an arcade, a home theater, and a mouth-watering collection of videogames and boardgames. So who do you think is in the wrong?

“My gf told me I’m not allowed to have any geeky stuff upstairs, it all goes in the basement.”
“Never underestimate a manchild.”
Meanwhile, this is how his basement looks:

> My gf told me I’m not allowed (...) I sincerely hope it's a joke, a simplification rather than an example of your "mutual understanding".
Yeah. The dude should really grow some balls :D
What? Balls are tender and easily damaged. Now a vagina- tough
Ugh, one of my biggest pet peeves is hearing someone say their significant other won't "allow" them something.
Well, living together often means compromising.. I'm not 'allowed' to paint the walls pink, my boyfriend can't have his Lego in every room.
Exactly and here everyone's like "dump her". Okay, so your understanding of mutual respect is "I can do whatever I want to but not the other person" or what? They can't just simply do two different styles. Their home would look like it was decorated by toddlers. And to be frank, his basement is tasteless. Ugly brown shelves, carpet flooring and toys everywhere. You can be a nerd without those darn toys. I know because I am one and don't own any kid's toys.
I think it's a joke, since the basement looks like perfect place to live D:
DID YOU SEE THE LAST PICTURE? dude has a complete flat in the basement full of his nerd crap.. 1/2
i think it was meant to be fun way to explain that all that nerdy stuff would ruin the interior so he has his own place in the basement 2/2
I'll never understand why people without shared interests get together - find yourself a nice nerdy girl, dude.
Just bcause they don't share this interest doesn't mean they don't share any other interests!
Really? The guy shoving all of his stuff into the basement tells a different story. "I have my space, and you have yours" Sounds healthy!
It's healthy as long as it doesn't bother them and it probably doesn't. Me and my partner have separate spaces for our hobbies, we still love each other more than anything in the world. Imo, you should have something in common but you shouldn't be too similar or it won't work, you won't evolve.
I don't understand too. Be geek is the coolest thing in the world :) I'm a geek and my boyfriend too. It's amazing be yourself!
yeah, like really really weird sex
But having other interests doesn't fix her wanting to control what he does and doesn't enjoy.
Opposites attract, having your own space isn't a bad thing.
That is a pretty cool basement/man cave.
Well, if they have an agreement on it then it's fine! My bf doesn't like my WoW action figures so I keep them on my computer desk
and he keeps the stuff I'm not so keen on on his PC desk :D Works perfectly! Our own little space and then the rest is stuff we both like!
yo, just because i like nerdy things doesnt mean i want my whole house decked out like that basement.
Exactly. I love nerdy stuff too, but this is just tacky af. It's like painting your whole room pink, decorating it with girly stuff and dressing up like a fairy. There's a point where it just gets a bit "too much".
Me neither.
Do they both pay rent? Are both names on the lease? Then that should be a discussion, not a "You can't have them in the house!" statement.
The basement is awesome, I could definitely live here, but seriously, find another girlfriend, this one is not good enough for you.
Dun say that. He 's got the best of both world :)
That's exactly what my now-hubby did :)
