You can see a lot of different themes on the subreddit, and the mod said they can change quite fast. "[What's popular] really depends on what is on people's minds at the time. Currently, a popular topic is the insane lengths people go through to deny the facts about Covid."
But there's a way to determine what we can expect from r/facepalm. According to research, people see actions as stupid for three primary reasons: the actions reflect a foolhardy level of risk, an absent-mindedness and lack of practicality, or an impulsive lack of control.
So even though the word 'stupid' sounds subjective, scientists have discovered that people are very quick to identify it.
"People don't spend time on judging if something is stupid or not," study researcher Balazs Aczel told Live Science. "It comes instantaneously, and as our results showed, they have high agreement. If one person calls something stupid, there's a high likelihood others will do the same thing."

It might seem unusual or even strange to investigate how people decide that something is stupid. But scientists love a challenge and researchers who study decision-making had no information, beyond anecdotes, as to how people decide whether an action is stupid.
So the team collected news stories and other online content that someone had described as stupid.
One example was a news story about a robber who set out to steal cellphones, but lifted GPS devices instead — and failed to switch the devices off, allowing the police to discover them (and him) immediately.
Next, the researchers invited 154 different students to gather examples of stupidity from their day-to-day life and read the stories, asking them whether each qualified as stupid.
The students (who were all Hungarian) then chose possible reasons from a long list as to why they'd decided each example would qualify for the label.

I see this was in 2020. A new bill has only one more committee before no abortions after 15 weeks. Sponsored by a woman who thinks that abortion is wrong because their baby could be the next president.
15 weeks seems like a fair compromise. Miscarriages happen most often during the first trimester. The nervous system and brain development might be a bit too far along though. I think 10 weeks is when movement begins happening, but it's difficult to see if pain can be felt at that time or if it's all involuntary like the heart beat. Two months (8weeks) is usualy plenty of time to know weather or not you are pregnant and make an appointment though.

I agree. My mom wanted to go to university, become a veterinarian, and live her dream, but some how my dad convinced her to be a stay at home mom. She committed suicide when i was 5 months old. I'd gladly have been aborted to keep my dad and grandparents from having to go through all that. Decades later no one can talk about her without crying, so i barely know any thing about her. I grew up feeling like i was garbage because i was just a reminder of her. I was an outcast at school because some christian parent told their kid she went to hell for suicide and that kid told everyone else. Life was hell from all angles.

I remember my Mom telling me when she was a teen, that she had to go to a Jewish doctor in order to get birth control outside of my grandparents consent, with money that she'd saved up from babysitting. Her family was Polish/Lithuanian (plus more), and heavily Catholic but in the end, she had such horrible endometriosis that it wouldn't have mattered anyway. It took my folks 12 years and a miracle to have me.She was always a huge supporter of abortion rights, and I am too.

Florida and Texas are my least favorite places in the US right now. Mainly due to the way they've handled abortion, and their anti mask beliefs are just so dumb, so dangerous, and so unchallenged. Worried for anybody who's actually trying to survive amongst these kinds of people, because while many of us want to live and improve quality of life for people who are put through things like this, there are a lot of people who aren't as interested in who lives or dies, yet they care so strongly about making sure they get to dictate how we live. We need to make reality checks, to figure out who's down to Earth, and who's got their eyes closed and their shirt on inside out. (Not literally, figure of speech.)

The volumes of information accessible on the internet about both sex and pregnancy allows anyone, that can read and is interested, to become well versed on these and all related subjects. Even when I was in junior high there was a large percentage of sexually active students at my school, a generally overcrowded, lower income school. More so with my high school. I don't know of any pregnancies during this time but one, and that is staggering to me today. In the 90s you couldn't necessarily be a teenager and get an abortion whenever and your parents never know Planned Parenthood literally on the same block as HS. The one pregnant girl tried, was refused, and did end up being pressured to keep her child. The thing was that every girl I knew of and my HS girlfriend were using birth control pills. That and condoms was what PP did for us. Hooray for 90s version of Planned Parenthood (at least ours)!

Procreation has but one purpose to create life. Having sex and getting mad that you got pregnant is like turning on the light switch and throwing a fit because the light came on. ( the pleasure you feel is just nature's incentive to procreate). However school sex ed does not teach biology anymore as we have teens who did not know having sex could get them pregnant. I am all for this! Whether to abort or carry is a huge decision with a lifetime of ramifications. Any teenager needs the input of a caring adult. Please notice that I said 'carry' the baby. I did not say raise the child. There are hundreds of thousands of couples waiting with empty arms who want to adopt a baby. Any color, and background. There are also tons of resources to help young mothers finish school, raise their babies, and get further education so they can support their families. This is not the dark ages! We want everyone to win!

This isn’t forcing anyone to become a mother, it’s making sure these girls have the best chance of having benefit of support and are educated on the choice they are making… emotionally and mentally and medically. In general most teens pregnancies are the result of poor decision making and/or ignorance. Compiling that decision with trying to abort a baby without anyone knowing (to avoid “getting in trouble” and “being embarrassed “…) …. often leads to disaster. There are no other medical procedures or even procedures that alter your body and could cause harm… that kids can make on their own. You can’t even get your ears pierced or get a tattoo before your 18 without parental consent….

If my child needed a medical procedure I'd want to know, for lots of reasons. Certainly emotional support is crucial. She can't even get her ears pierced without my permission.
They were irresponsible enough to have sex without protection, and such a life-changing decision should be made with a parent of the child under 18.
Also, in that situation - my alternative would be to commit suicide. That's a much better solution.
