The bridesmaids should never outshine the bride. Some brides, however, seem to be taking this to the extreme when dressing up their maids of honor. Or maybe time changes fashion trends so much, that after some the style that was "in" starts to look simply ridiculous. Either way, Bored Panda has collected a series of vintage bridesmaids dresses that are so funny, that you'll probably feel sorry for the women who wore them.

The 70s fashion brought outrageous patterns, floppy hats, and undiscernable silhouettes to the mix, 80s fashion later added vivid color, spandex, and space-filling hairdos. No matter the era, though, these absolutely unique vintage outfits would make your silly Spongebob PJs look like a classy suit. The dresses day "garden party" but the hats say "yippee ki yay". The groom's tux says "we'll be here all week, try the veal and don't forget to tip your warehouse."

She looks timeless and perfect. And honestly, the bridesmaids would look nicer if not for those awful veil-hat-bow-things.

These dresses are beautiful. Some of the accessories, not so much.

So far on this list, I like this one best. The bridesmaid dresses look like they could be worn again for another dressy event (minus some of the wedding-y accessories)

Compared to what we've seen here, this isn't so bad. The bride's dress is pretty

At least the dresses, by themselves, are elegant. The funny blue veil things and awful bows... not so much.

They were fashionable at the time; also back then it probably wouldn't have been considered appropriate not to wear some kind of head covering for a church wedding. Brides and bridemaids weren't expected to dress like they would for any other event.

These dresses aren't as bad as the others. They're pretty, minus the headpiece things

I actually don't hate the dresses. The headpieces and ribbon-bouquet things, however...

These at least are fairly restrained and pleasant looking. No weird prints or colors, this one must have been in the 60's. And they all look at least a little happy, too.

These aren’t terrible. I like them a lot and the bride’s dress doesn’t take up the entire room and looks really nice.

I wouldn't call these dresses ridiculous; they're cute and tasteful, definitely compared to most of the other ones here, anyway.

That's actually pretty classy. You could even wear those dresses again without wanting to do major alterations to them...

I kinda like the idea here too, perhaps the blue top ending is done a bit oddly(but then again compared to some modern fashion...) but love the blue/white combo against their dark skin and those simple slender white skirts

The bridesmaids' dresses are pretty (except for the bows and the veil-hats, of course), but they're all wearing cone bras. Even though I realize that was the style, my boobs hurt just thinking about stuffing them into those bras back in the day. There are some areas where I am SO glad fashions have changed, and pointy bras are high on the list.

I think I would like these if the bottom halves weren't white. The bride sort of gets lost in the background.

These are way more elegant than most of the others. I think the veils and bows match and aren't as puffy and wild as the others either. This one is classy af. (The dark blue one matching the bouquets?? C'mon.)

She was probably the matron or maid of honor, they often used to have a different dress for the other bridesmaids to differentiate them

The dresses are blessedly simple. The issue here is the headgear. They look like someone re-purposed Easter decorations.

I forget how young people got married back the day.....all these fresh little faces. Before someone jumps my s**t....I'm not saying I think it's a great idea to get married fresh out of high school. I'm just observing.

I honestly am not bothered by the oddness of the dresses. I just live how happy everyone looks. No one is trying to look cool; they seem genuinely happy to be part of the day.
