The bridesmaids should never outshine the bride. Some brides, however, seem to be taking this to the extreme when dressing up their maids of honor. Or maybe time changes fashion trends so much, that after some the style that was "in" starts to look simply ridiculous. Either way, Bored Panda has collected a series of vintage bridesmaids dresses that are so funny, that you'll probably feel sorry for the women who wore them.

The 70s fashion brought outrageous patterns, floppy hats, and undiscernable silhouettes to the mix, 80s fashion later added vivid color, spandex, and space-filling hairdos. No matter the era, though, these absolutely unique vintage outfits would make your silly Spongebob PJs look like a classy suit. The dresses day "garden party" but the hats say "yippee ki yay". The groom's tux says "we'll be here all week, try the veal and don't forget to tip your warehouse."

I'm sure the outfits are bad but I can't see them. My eyes are glued on the hair of the guy on the right.

The dresses are blessedly simple. The issue here is the headgear. They look like someone re-purposed Easter decorations.

Now these bridesmaids dresses are cool...unfortunately I don't think the groomsmen suits will ever come back in fashion

Why are the bridesmaids wearing veils? Also, my eyes hurt.

I think some churches still required head coverings on women in the 70's. Maybe the veils (and floppy hats in other pics) serve that purpose

Believe it or not, pink and orange together was a big thing in the late 60s. It was part of the Canarby Street look. These gals were actually quite fashion-forward for their time!

Martha, grab those hanging flowers on aunt Betty’s porch! They’ll do in a pinch.

It's interesting to see bridesmaids of color as well as the white girls. But it's also very, very clear that this fabric makes them look as risen-from-the-dead as everyone else! I remember when that color combination was popular. (Dating myself, aren't I?) The good news is that it was only popular for a short time. The bad news is that this wedding managed to hit that sweet spot. I'm sure the bride has hidden the bridesmaids' pictures where her children will never find them until they're old enough to have unfortunate wardrobe photos of their own!

Pink and tangerine chiffon? Circa late sixties-early seventies.

I think I had a mini-dress in that skirt fabric in 1968. It must have been leftover from then. Why the stupid veils??

Just barforama for it all - I swear in the 1960s I had towels in that same pink and orange pattern and then to combine them with the pink tuxedo shirts! Which are particularly unsuited to a large bosom (which most of them seem to have) And cotton candy veils! Woof.

I knew a girl who chose turquoise and orange as her wedding colors. Very Howard Johnson-ish.

It's scary that they found a color combo that made all of them looked jaundiced.

This is a truly unfortunate color choice. Makes these women look like they have jaundice or something.

My mom had duvet covers like these - Orange, pink and sunflower yellow. I think pink tops do match pink flowers...

I’m thinking the Bride & Groom had a bet as to how many women they could rake into buying that dress.

I forget how young people got married back the day.....all these fresh little faces. Before someone jumps my s**t....I'm not saying I think it's a great idea to get married fresh out of high school. I'm just observing.

If you go inside the church, you'll see that all of the wallpaper in the hallways is gone.

I wonder if the bride had an open wound that the Dr didn't want her licking?

I honestly am not bothered by the oddness of the dresses. I just live how happy everyone looks. No one is trying to look cool; they seem genuinely happy to be part of the day.
