The bridesmaids should never outshine the bride. Some brides, however, seem to be taking this to the extreme when dressing up their maids of honor. Or maybe time changes fashion trends so much, that after some the style that was "in" starts to look simply ridiculous. Either way, Bored Panda has collected a series of vintage bridesmaids dresses that are so funny, that you'll probably feel sorry for the women who wore them.

The 70s fashion brought outrageous patterns, floppy hats, and undiscernable silhouettes to the mix, 80s fashion later added vivid color, spandex, and space-filling hairdos. No matter the era, though, these absolutely unique vintage outfits would make your silly Spongebob PJs look like a classy suit. The dresses day "garden party" but the hats say "yippee ki yay". The groom's tux says "we'll be here all week, try the veal and don't forget to tip your warehouse."

Bride...very classic style...but which is worse...the bridesmaid's dresses or the groom's baby-blue tux complete with ruffle-front shirt and bow-tie!

The best solution for this kind of wedding pic, is desaturation or some kind of sepia... just to fit in your living room after the 70's ;p old-fashio...cb316d.jpg old-fashioned-funny-bridesmaids-dresses-20-5ae3080fdaf2d__605-5b64b53cb316d.jpg

You'd think Vinny could lay off the reefer at least until the wedding photos were done.

I remember the days when guys wore colored tuxes. I can’t say much about the dresses because my eyes keep going back to the tux!

So did I! And I hated it after awhile. Couldn’t wait to give to Salvation Army. I bet they did too. But the groom. Is it “Mearball” from “ All in the family”?

I don't care what you say I lived the 70's it was a super ugly era, the men looked like porn stars at best, the women and the decor all matched at the same time. It wasn't until the disco era that the girls clothing became more soft, elegant and flowing, it helped a bit. The men back then always looked like a grip of body builders that could double at any gay nightclub with their ugly a*s outfits, insulting gay men but thinking they were hot as f!

Style isn't too bad, but the material matched the groom. Why have they got Akubra hats on, they look awful. The bouquet's are too pale and just add more to the colour confusion White/mauve flowers would have been better and they are wearing blue shoes to match the groom???

The eye shadow, the plastic looking flowers, the tux, the mustache. I think a very specific type of redneck was created in the seventies that lives on to this day.

And they probably blamed the bm on the right for ruining the picture by shutting her eyes. Seems like a good response. Wish I’d thought of that before looking at this.

Why would they have blue tuxes with purple dresses? I suspect someone may be color blind.

There's a little hint of blue in the dresses...and back then it was probably pretty difficult to get a purple tux. And maybe they could have used blue ribbon on the flowers to match the blue sashes and hats. Doesn't help much though, does it. :D

The dresses are blessedly simple. The issue here is the headgear. They look like someone re-purposed Easter decorations.

I honestly am not bothered by the oddness of the dresses. I just live how happy everyone looks. No one is trying to look cool; they seem genuinely happy to be part of the day.
