The bridesmaids should never outshine the bride. Some brides, however, seem to be taking this to the extreme when dressing up their maids of honor. Or maybe time changes fashion trends so much, that after some the style that was "in" starts to look simply ridiculous. Either way, Bored Panda has collected a series of vintage bridesmaids dresses that are so funny, that you'll probably feel sorry for the women who wore them.

The 70s fashion brought outrageous patterns, floppy hats, and undiscernable silhouettes to the mix, 80s fashion later added vivid color, spandex, and space-filling hairdos. No matter the era, though, these absolutely unique vintage outfits would make your silly Spongebob PJs look like a classy suit. The dresses day "garden party" but the hats say "yippee ki yay". The groom's tux says "we'll be here all week, try the veal and don't forget to tip your warehouse."

One year, I left buying my Halloween costume too late and had to get one of those cheap and nasty ones from the supermarket. It looked just like those brides maids dressses.

The bridesmaids' dresses look like they were thrown together from fabric scraps and leotards.

The bridesmaid's had no idea what they were agreeing too. At least I hoped they didn't.

And the bride's mom and mother-in-law wanted to get in on the fun too. No mother-of-the-bride dresses for them..wings! They got wings! Seriously, the bride has four sisters there, her mom, future mom-in-law, and future sister-in-law.

This is a Fairy theme wedding. Both my cousins (sisters) had theme weddings. One a 1950's sock hop vibe with the bridesmaids wearing poodle skirts and the groomsman with their hair slicked back and dressed like guys from the movie Grease. The other had a medieval themed wedding. The bridesmaids were wenches and the groomsmen were Robin Hood types.

Oh no! Fairy themed wedding! How could you do that to your family and friends? It doesn’t look like the bride has wings…her joke, right?

If the groom is that Peter Pan guy of early internet fame, I'm totally okay with this.

The bridesmaid just to the right of the bride is hot. Hey, I'm struggling to find SOMETHING nice to say...

Not bad, her arms are the same as several others. It's just that the photographer told her to squish in to get in camera range.

If you are a princess on your wedding day, then you expect fairies. I actually think this is a cool idea.

I'm sure the outfits are bad but I can't see them. My eyes are glued on the hair of the guy on the right.

The dresses are blessedly simple. The issue here is the headgear. They look like someone re-purposed Easter decorations.

I forget how young people got married back the day.....all these fresh little faces. Before someone jumps my s**t....I'm not saying I think it's a great idea to get married fresh out of high school. I'm just observing.

If you go inside the church, you'll see that all of the wallpaper in the hallways is gone.

I wonder if the bride had an open wound that the Dr didn't want her licking?

I honestly am not bothered by the oddness of the dresses. I just live how happy everyone looks. No one is trying to look cool; they seem genuinely happy to be part of the day.
