Americans Share Brutally Honest Descriptions Of The States They Live In, And The Result Is Hilarious
The 50 states of the U.S.A can often get Europeans confused. Is there really that much difference between Mississippi and Alabama? Washington and Oregon? To outsiders not so much, but of course locals will definitely let you know! To get more clarification on how to distinguish between them, one Redditor asked Americans what are the things everyone should know about each state. It's hard to say if this person got what they were asking for, but the result is definitely amusing.
While some users offered tactful descriptions about unique nature of their states and shared important historical facts, others were a lot more candid. Americans dispelled absurd myths, showed what makes them proud and didn't hesitate to point fingers at their own flaws with hilarious examples. I must say, I have many good friends from Texas and they are like no other people in the United States. I love the people. Not so much the state because of the tumble weeds and vastness; but, the people are characters!!!
Probably most of the negative stereotypes about Americans come from this state. I have never been in the USA but if I ever have an opportunity to visit USA I will go somewhere else than Texas.
I live in Texas, and I get this sentiment. There are things about Texas and Texans that I don't like - but that's everywhere, man. No place is perfect. There are some really gorgeous areas in Texas, like Big Bend National Park. Austin (where I live) is a cool place to visit, lots of great food, art, and pretty areas like the Greenbelt. Don't judge us all by the stereotypes!

I'm Texan. I've yet to hear anyone say Murican or Murica. I'm not republican, far from racist or any of the other stereotypical lumping labels that, unfortunately, some people seem to like to tag others with. I treat people on an individual basis. I'm liberal on some matters and conservative on others and middle road on many. And even if I don't agree with the philosophies of some others there are still opportunities to learn from them.
Desert to the west, woods to the east, ocean to the south, and miles of traffic-clogged highways down the middle.
I grew up in West Texas, and until the recent influx of oilfield trash, it was pretty live and let live out here as long as you pulled your weight, didn't hurt anyone, and stayed out of other people's business, now it's a total mess
I once heard that was enough land in Texas for every human on the planet to have 2 acres of land each. Of course, this was before we hit 7 billion, so it might be 1 1/2 acres by now.

Me to my friends anytime someone says Texas: *in exaggerated country accent* Texas?! Someone say Texas? Ain't nuttin' bigger than Texas. Heck, even Texas is bigger than Texas!

Some of you, who have commented about Texas, have never been here. I'll give you a little history lesson. Texas has the largest German and Czechoslovakian culture anywhere. The Mexican Government gave the German Society (re: government) 3 million acres in Central Texas in 1836. What else happened in 1836? Texas won its independence from Mexico, but the Germans still came, and came. There was even a port set up for the incoming European immigrants in Indio, Texas. I dare anyone to try to find it, now. We have a huge German, Czeck and mixed cultures here. Oh, BTW...where was the first Republican Party of all black members formed? TEXAS! So call us racist, call us rednecks, and believe everything you see on TV, but come and see for yourself and see what Texas really is.
Some people accuse others of not being "real" Americans (ie. don't have the "right" political positions). Perhaps some want to secede from the "un-American" folks in the US.

The real description: Philadelphia on the east, Pittsburgh on the wet, Alabama in the middle.
I used to live in Nebraska, and I loved it! Down to earth, kind people.

Having lived or vacationed in 27 of the states, this seems pretty accurate. :) This amazing country has so much diversity, I don't understand why more Americans don't visit more of their own country.
That’s because the US is too damn big and we don’t have enough vacation time to visit many places. Most people that travel the states are older retired folks.

I wonder if we could describe English counties that way - Am Cumbrian and Cumbria didnt even exist til 1974 - actually iI'm a Lancastrian
for some reason they combined 3 historic counties - Cumberland, Westmoreland and Northumberland - stole a bit of Lancashire and renamed us Cumbria
