The 50 states of the U.S.A can often get Europeans confused. Is there really that much difference between Mississippi and Alabama? Washington and Oregon? To outsiders not so much, but of course locals will definitely let you know! To get more clarification on how to distinguish between them, one Redditor asked Americans what are the things everyone should know about each state. It's hard to say if this person got what they were asking for, but the result is definitely amusing.

While some users offered tactful descriptions about unique nature of their states and shared important historical facts, others were a lot more candid. Americans dispelled absurd myths, showed what makes them proud and didn't hesitate to point fingers at their own flaws with hilarious examples. Proving once again that they know how to laugh at themselves. Scroll down to see for yourself!

I was on a college campus tour in Wisconsin once. A concerned parent asked "Do students often head off into town to drink?". The tour guide replied, "Oh, don't worry, there's a bar on campus!" By far the most Wisconsin misunderstanding I've ever been witness to.

"Sweet Home Alabama Where The Sky's Are So Blue". I think the Skynard band got it right.

And thank Louisiana, where I currently reside. We tend to be last in many things one would like to be first in, those that we’re first in, one would prefer to be last in (such as murder, where we are in second as far as most murders...last I checked)

How do you not get it? We're the worst at everything, save MS. We have the worst maternal and infant death rate, we have the worst educated students, we have the lowest life expectancy, and most of the people here have some kind of brain damage causing them to work against their best interest and the interest of humanity in general. This state sucks, but not quite as bad as MS. There, now you get it.

Strictly regulated brothels operate legally in isolated rural areas, away from the majority of Nevada's population. Prostitution is illegal in the following counties: Clark (which contains Las Vegas), Washoe (which contains Reno), Douglas, and Lincoln.

I can confirm this is true. My school had a silent auction with a basket full of Old Bay Seasoning.

Yellowstone super-volcano should worry more than just people in Wyoming - If it ever does erupt.
