Americans Share Brutally Honest Descriptions Of The States They Live In, And The Result Is Hilarious
The 50 states of the U.S.A can often get Europeans confused. Is there really that much difference between Mississippi and Alabama? Washington and Oregon? To outsiders not so much, but of course locals will definitely let you know! To get more clarification on how to distinguish between them, one Redditor asked Americans what are the things everyone should know about each state. It's hard to say if this person got what they were asking for, but the result is definitely amusing.
While some users offered tactful descriptions about unique nature of their states and shared important historical facts, others were a lot more candid. Americans dispelled absurd myths, showed what makes them proud and didn't hesitate to point fingers at their own flaws with hilarious examples. Proving once again that they know how to laugh at themselves. Scroll down to see for yourself!

When I was young, I had a boyfriend from Minnesota (I was a Californian). Anyway, he done me wrong and my pithy Aunt said I should tell him to go home and jump into one of his ten thousand lakes. Still get a laugh.
I was planning to look through there for my state, but it's 1st (and sooooo true) haha
How can people here tell when someone is down-voting? I've seen a couple of other comments about downvoting before, and don't get it.
Load More Replies...We're nothing like Canada. My nephew's friend was from Vancouver. He said 'Eh' constantly (he really did). We don't say that in MN. Completely different worlds ;-)
A lot of my mom's side of the family is from northern mn in duluth and they have the sterotypical minnesotan accent and say eh a lot XD
Load More Replies...Big Giggles! :) I've never been but now I know what to expect if I have an opportunity to go to either. :)
I am currently in Minnesota on vacation right now (about 30 mins from Minneapolis), and this couldn't be more true! lol.
Were you can swim in their thousands of lakes if it ever gets warm enough.
I really thought it would be some kind of joke about mosquitoes being our state bird. With all the lakes...
In late 2016, there was a petition on change.org for Minnesota seceding from the US and joining Canada. I signed it. (At some point, the author closed it.)
I live here and it's true (most of the time). They don't call it "Minnesota Nice" for nothin'.
It's definitely not always true. The people around where I live are complete asshats. They're really only here for Mayo tho, and it's all old people...
Load More Replies...It's the largest Mall in the US. Come see it some time. It's worth the trip. And as an added bonus, we have an IKEA right next door! 😁
Load More Replies...I will be polite MN has an IDIOT for a govonor and the elected offcials for the most part are worse.

The real description: Philadelphia on the east, Pittsburgh on the wet, Alabama in the middle.
I used to live in Nebraska, and I loved it! Down to earth, kind people.
'We have waffle house' does not accurately describe the waffle house situation down there.
I'm only an a*****e when it's warranted. Like when tourists visit and ask where top go to look at leaves. Right out your hotel window Sharon
Yellowstone super-volcano should worry more than just people in Wyoming - If it ever does erupt.
I think you need to have lived in the states. Makes no sense to me - at aaaaalllll. Me - European
Yea, if you've never visited the state it's not all that funny... Also some of them made not sense to me and I've lived in that state.
Load More Replies...This was a great idea and I am so glad you posted it. What a hoot to listen to what people had to say about their "homeland." I loved it. Thanks :) :)
Having lived or vacationed in 27 of the states, this seems pretty accurate. :) This amazing country has so much diversity, I don't understand why more Americans don't visit more of their own country.
That’s because the US is too damn big and we don’t have enough vacation time to visit many places. Most people that travel the states are older retired folks.
Load More Replies...I wonder if we could describe English counties that way - Am Cumbrian and Cumbria didnt even exist til 1974 - actually iI'm a Lancastrian
for some reason they combined 3 historic counties - Cumberland, Westmoreland and Northumberland - stole a bit of Lancashire and renamed us Cumbria

I've not been to most of the states, so I can't say much for them, but WOW, the U.S. has tacky f*****g flags.
