Some people are looking for a sign from God, others from the financial market. But what if I told you that a local pub or a fencing academy can put up one that's just as memorable?

Bored Panda collected a list of the funniest signs to start off the week right, and believe me when I say it, they will show you that people are really creative when it comes to getting their message across.

Of course, we also included a few unfortunate attempts to balance things out. Enjoy!

These signs definitely have a lot of personality. And it's precisely what people and businesses want from them. Sick and tired of chain culture slowly making all streets look the same, many city shops are returning to handpainted signs.

Adrian Geach, who has been a signwriter since 1980, told Bored Panda that, "a good sign should be eye-catching, easy to understand and not too wordy with enough negative space around the text or logo, and have a good color scheme."

Geach lives in Wales but can take his brushes anywhere to work on a project. He left school at 16 to undertake a five-year signwriting apprenticeship and said he was lucky enough to be taught by three master craftsmen steeped in the skills of a brush and a pot of paint.

After learning the trade, Geach set up a sign makers business specializing in exhibition and display graphics and embraced the new vinyl and large format technology that was just coming to the fore.

Adrian has been successfully involved in all areas of signage and graphics for decades but not that long ago, he went back to his roots and now concentrates on traditional signwriting.

With the current resurgence of interest in signwriting and hand-rendered work, he utilizes his skills to offer clients a more personal, unique, environmentally friendly, and organic signage solution using old-fashioned materials and techniques.

"A sign might only be looked at for a few seconds so it needs to leave an impression within this time frame, hence the less is more approach," he said.

"There are many factors to take into account when designing a sign but the most important thing is to make sure it doesn't get lost in its surroundings," Geach revealed.

"A bad sign is too much lettering, not enough space around or in-between text and logos, and bad color choices."

Sounds like a good way to have your packages "accidentally" dropped from a great height.

Yes. Preemptively treating people like idiots doesn't usually go well. They could've put up a sign that simply said something like, "Please ring the bell. We can't hear you knocking." Sure, it should be policy that delivery workers ring doorbells as hearing impaired people often rely on visual signals triggered by doorbells, but not everyone is going to think of that. They do know what a doorbell is, they're just not thinking about reasons knocking may be insufficient.

I used to live on the third floor of a converted Edwardian house. So knocking was obviously never an option. I once had a British Gas engineer come out, I watched the van pull up and ran down the stairs to be ready to open the main door. I didn't have it open ready because we'd had an influx of a certain proselyte group and I wasn't going to get caught again (that's a different story). From where I waited it's possible to hear the distant dings of the various flats echo down the hallway. But I sat in silence. Until a card was pushed through the letterbox. B*stard hadn't even TRIED knocking or ringing. BG got a very irate phone call (I'd had to take a day off work waiting in for the twit), and the next engineer made sure to ring and knock (even though that was pointless in reality). Some service people are good at their jobs. Some service people should be taken to a field and shot with a Taser.

I have even been at a my kitchen window, which faces the front of the house, and saw the guy park in my driveway, pass the same kitchen window walking up to my front door, put the “Sorry we missed you!” sticker on my door—-didn’t see me in the window, or ring the door bell, or even knock—-walk away, get back in his truck, and leave. Needless to say, I immediately called the company and told them about it, describing the whole incident and the driver. They were not much help at all. It took another three days for my package to finally be delivered. Good thing it wasn’t anything perishable.

They do it when they haven’t bothered to bring the packages with them. Just bring a stack of “sorry we missed you” cards, much easier… My friend caught one in the act and he had to admit he didn’t have the package.

Had a customer leave a note "When goods in is locked, please knock LOUDLY on door at end of building". I knocked 3 times LOUDLY and they were too afraid to answer. The whispered discussion behind the closed door was "No, I'm not answering that, that's how demons knock" Put my signing book with company logo up to the tiny window, and when they opened the door I used my "demon" voice just because I am evil.

Worded this way, your packages are going to be "damaged in transit". There are many polite ways to request the same thing. "Please ring the doorbell and we will quickly answer. Everyone is upstairs and we don't hear knocking!" Be nice to people and they will usually return the favor.

I've delivered food before. They number of people who have absolutely no clue that their doorbells are broken is astounding. I've pointed it out to a few people and they were putting it on the delivery people, thinking they were the dumbasses for knocking. Like, hello? Every time you get a delivery and someone knocks instead of ringing your obvious doorbell, you never thought to check? Then again, I live in an area predominantly occupied by those that thinks that giant orange miserable turd of a president was God.

Love this sign. When I had packages brought by Hermes, they would never ring the doorbell, instead just leaving a note, just because I lived on the top floor of an old apartment building without elevator.

Me too. I have a sign already that says please ring the bell and an arrow pointing to the bell, at least 50% of delivery people still knock, which since the living room is at the back I don't always hear. I'm giving the ones I don't hear then benefit of the doubt here and assuming they knocked, based on how many do. For all I know they could have just not bothered to do either.

"Plandemic" says it all about your comment. This is not true. Delivery drivers were instructed to not let customers touch their electronic signature pad, that's it. Nothing about doorbells. Also you do realize that knocking on a door is still using your hand to touch a surface right?... come on.
