The world without siblings wouldn’t be the same. If you’re the oldest child in the family like me, you know the price you pay for ordering the little one around. And if you’re the smallest in the pack, well, you probably know it better than me, anyway.
So in some ways, having a frenemy for life is both a blessing and sometimes a curse, but honestly, more of a blessing. Like, who else would you annoy the heck out of, or who else would you join a secret alliance with to sneak out to your friends when you know very well that you’d both be in trouble? Or who would you still say "don’t tell mom" to when you turn 50?
Siblings are for life, and these painfully spot-on sibling tweets selected by Bored Panda are proof that this life has more colors, shouting, and constant "can you lend me a (insert smth you don’t wanna lend but can’t refuse)?" moments.

To find out more about the complex dynamics of sibling relationships, Bored Panda reached out to Dr. Lise Deguire, a licensed psychologist and award-winning author of “Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience From a Burn Survivor.”
“When a child has a sibling, they learn from their earliest days that attention, love, and resources must be shared. Parents take care of both of them, so children have to learn to wait their turn, to share the cake, to take turns picking what to watch on TV.
”Turns out that these early lessons are the ones that help kids understand two crucial things: that other people matter and that other people have needs. “Kids with siblings also learn, early on, that they can wait now and then get what they want,” said Dr. Lise and added that “Generally, these are good life lessons for children to have.”
Or as one of my brothers would do “here hold this” and then walks away whilst leaving his rubbish for you to dispose of.
Been there. Done that. Now I can go to the bathroom in the complete darkness and still be ok.
However, sometimes, these lessons don't go so well. According to Dr. Lise, “if parents have clear favorites, or if one child gets a disproportionate share of attention, it can be very painful and lead to long-term feelings of being inadequate, inferior, or uncared for.”
In order to avoid this, Dr. Lise recommends for families to have repeated bonding traditions that actively include all the children. For example, “Dinner time, holiday traditions, family vacations, game night.” The licensed psychologist explained that “all these are bonding opportunities to help kids feel a part of the family, hopefully in an equal way.”
Or repeat a joke we just heard because we know the other one will laugh!
this is me and my brother when i'm in a zoom meeting, or doing homework, or drawing, or reading, or eating, or sleeping.......................
I did the same with my dad's car when I was a teenager. I don't think he knows to this day...
This is why a moderately harsh environment nurtures better individuals. How else would you come up (or research) sick burns if you're chummy with your siblings?
No, no you don’t. Something I have definitely experienced. Another one is my middle brother hiding around the corner with our universal remote sneakily changing the channels, volume or turning the tv off. Bloody rat bag.
I do this all the time. I'm about to pop at the seams but I'll eat just so my siblings won't finish it.
I tell the one being copied to just stay silent. The one who was copying will get bored in a few seconds.
I had a work colleague once that had this. You could write on his skin with your finger. He just loved us all wanting to have a go! Can't remember what the disease was but it was controlled with antihistamines.
Good grief. Looks like they got slapped with a hot rubber glove.
My sister pulled me up the stairs by my hair, I had a huge lump on the back of my head because she pulled so hard she separated my scalp from the bone underneath it and the bump was the blood trapped underneath it. Hurt to brush my hair for month until.it finally went away.
my brother does that to me a lot i always find handprints on my back
You have no idea what you missed out on, but then you need to have it in order to miss it
Load More Replies...I PUNCHED MY SISTER SO HARD WHEN WE WERE YOUNGER THAT SHE GOT THE AIR KNOCKED OUT OF HER AND THEN THIS BITCH THREW MY ASS ACROSS THE ROOM INTO HER DRESSER AND WE BOTH HAD A MUTUAL "Don't you f*****g dare cry" MOMENT 😭 (sorry for all caps I forgot cap lock and I'm too lazy to rewrite the entire comment)
When my kids fought and left bruises. I used to worry the cops would think I did it. When they were teens, I was wishing the cops would come, I could have gotten more rest in JAIL!
My little sister did that to me while I was on a Zoom call. I had my camera off and we were both laughing at the red mark on my shoulder until it faded 30 minutes later.
(Only child here again) I’m having to verify these with hubs, and each time he says “yup, that’s about right.”
Hit someone hard enough open-handed, that's the mark it leaves, turning eventually into a hand shaped bruise. (Had a parent who had issues with anger control.)
Load More Replies...I start scratching when either of my sisters hit me, even if it's in a playful manner. Takes a good 8 to 10 mins for the scratch to settle .
that happened to me once my older bro hit me so hard i hand his hand mark and was bleeding for like a day
I once cracked my brother's head bleeding by pushing him "just a little bit" to the corner of wall..

Unrelated to the post: I know everyone is angry because the bots/trolls keeps downvoting good comments! But I’m positive BP will do something about it soon! Also: there is a user my the name of Amelija Janavicius who is extremely racist and uses the N-word in every comment. She claims she works for BP and that’s why she isn’t blocked. I’m not sure how to report her, but if you do, please share! Finally, to the bots and trolls: I do not, I repeat DO NOT care if this comment is downvoted and/or hidden. Thank you.
ive already contacted bp staff, nothing back yet though

I can’t even be in a room with my sibling without witnesses. You start to question your sanity and yourself when they are good at manipulation and spinning tales...we are better off taking care of ourselves than trying to repair broken relationships with awful people.
Load More Replies...All posts just reminds me how lucky I am to have grown up with a sibling.. simply can't imagine my life without having one..thanks mum and dad!
Well if you were an only child you wouldn't know what you were missing so you wouldn't care. Lol

Don't feel bad at all. I loved being an only child. Plus if you know thats all you can handle , you made the right choice 😁
Load More Replies...My sister: If I won a million dollars, I would give you a quarter of it. Me: Wow! Do you know how much a quarter of a million dollars is? My sister: Yeah--25 cents!
I just lost my brother 2 days ago. I’m 57 and all he ever called me was “Kid”. ❤️💔❤️
LOL I am the youngest by a wide margin. My sister is 16 years older and my brother 13 years older... what really sucked was being no you couldn't do or have something because of something your sibling did like 10 years before you even thought of it! For example, we lived in the country and I asked for a horse.. nope because my brother and sister didn't take care of theirs that they had long before I was thought of. My brother and sister had their first car bought for by dad, I had to buy mine because they didn't take care of their cars...
So recently I (45F) was telling my brother (38M) about a hack about toothpaste on a mosquito bite to soothe the itch. He didn't believe me and thought I was trying to trick him into covering his body in toothpaste as a joke. I had to agree it is something I might do.
