Y’all I’m Dying! This Is Ben’s Journal Entry From Monday About Our First “Home School” Day. That Last Sentence

Candice Hunter Kennedy Report

You're trying to finish your report right before the deadline, but your kid is running around pretending to be a superhero. Or you want to sit down and watch some TV, but that's the moment you realize that your toddler broke it. Ah, the wonders of raising kids! It's a challenge, but there are things you can do so you can focus on your work.

For instance, Allyssa McCabe, a psychology professor at the University of Massachusetts, told The Atlantic that it's easier to keep kids busy during the workday without supervision the older they are. But for those readers out there who have young kids, don't panic just yet!

“For young children, independent play is tough. They really need social interaction. Parents will be tempted to hand over an iPhone or iPad or the like. This is understandable, but parents should also know that the younger the child, the worse this is for their language and cognitive development.”

Instead of making your kid sit surrounded with electronic devices all day long, it's best to go for something that will actually help with their development. Give them art supplies or Play-Doh to get them creating!

Meanwhile, Michelle Martin, a professor at the University of Washington's Informations School and the founder of a children's summer literacy program, recommended that parents play their kids some audiobooks.

You'll be able to focus on work and your child will be engaged and learning. And the best part? While your kid's listening to Harry Potter, you can sneakily listen in, too, when you're taking a break. Now that's a win-win situation if we've ever seen one!

I was on the phone at the customer service line at Nintendo of America one afternoon. A man called to get information about where to get replacement game controllers. As I'm giving him the information, he cries out "Layla! What are you doing!?!" Turns out he'd taken a break from painting his daughters bedroom bright pink. She liked the color so much, she dipped her shoes in the paint, put them on her feet and walked across the carpet covering the living room floor. Needless to say..he had to go.

One day in less than 2 minutes my 3 year old niece managed to get naked and cover her body in peanut butter pretending it was lotion. You don’t believe it until you live it, but kids are super fast, especially when they know they’re doing something they’re going to get in trouble for!

My niece, just over 2, covered herself in sudocreme while sitting on lounge chair. Horrible stuff to try and get off, waterproof, took her about 90 seconds. Don't underestimate how quickly they can do something they shouldn't do.

I love how folks who clearly do not have children are down voting those that do because they don't like to be wrong.

It can happen faster then you think... to the best of parents with the sweetest of children. If it happens to you, keep it WET until it is all cleaned up. If you let it dry, especially in carpet, it will be there forever... but if you keep it wet with water, you can keep cleaning it and call a carpet extraction-cleaning company. Happened to my neighbor when our kids were little. Again, red paint.

To all you complaining about taking pictures, the damage has been done, does 2 more minutes even matter at this point? Plus you get to show them when they're older! Also, kids are ridiculously fast, paint spreads incredibly fast, and naked children are meant to be perceived as innocent unless you're a pedophile. Poor parent probably just had to use the bathroom.

Um, this reminds me of the time that my brother did some painting for our parents when he was about 3. Parents had left the paint tray and roller out after they'd painted our stairs. Next morning the bro gets up before anyone else and decides to do a bit of painting as well - with chocolate mousse!! I don't think his looked as bad as this picture though lol! He was a holy terror when he was younger, he was always doing things like that. Like pouring a full bottle of milk into dolls tea cups, he only stopped when the bottle was empty! And don't even get me started on the hamster incident!! Oh, bro's name, mum wanted to call him Damien, dad said no, so they settled on Damon. Hmmm 🤔

There seem to be several photos with the child in varying degrees of paint cover... I'm just wondering, who took them? Another child, in on the prank... or do you suppose this might just be a set up for social media purposes.... still funny, and I hope they wanted a limed oak floor as that's what they've now got! haha

totally staged. For one the kid has the paint perfectly covering her whole body, wven with rolling around it wouldnt do that. and same with the distribution across the floor. I dont know why you would deliberately ruin your floor like that

Uggghhhh!! I have So MANY questions! Like many others, my immediate thought was “ How long was this child left alone?” Because there’s absolutely no denying the obvious fact that this parent/adult failed their child and self. By #1 leaving a dangerous chemical (exhibit A: the bucket of paint) for a child to have such easy access to? #2 The college of pictures shared on social media tell the story for you. And it’s clear that leaving the paint was bad judgment , but even scarier is the question of HOW LONG was this innocent child left in this Dangerous situation? I find it pathetic that the person is so freely sharing their own bad choices as if it’s just another day in the park. SMFH

How did a child that little pry the top off a paint can? I, as an adult, have to use a special tool or screw driver to get it off. Then that means you left the child in a room with an open can of paint. You aren't too smart, are you?

I never understand how parents see something like this and just take a picture. I'd be totally freaking out. I wouldn't be like, "Let's just let this continue while I spend five minutes taking pictures of my kid and house covered in paint."
