Woman Spent Flight With Little Girl Who Kept Serving Random One-Liners, Ended Up Tweeting Them And Going Viral

Interview

The airport can be a very emotional and precious place for those who travel a lot and have to leave their friends and family behind. But it also is an exciting place marking the start of new experiences and surprises. There are all kinds of journeys, but they all leave something to remember. Especially if we meet someone special along the way.

Having this in mind, Twitter user @KatiHartwig decided to share her encounter with her seatmate who was such an interesting companion that Kati decided to share her hilarious one-liners on her Twitter account. Soon enough, it turned into a wholesome thread of brilliant jokes that this girl sitting next to Kati served through the whole flight.

It’s no secret that not everyone likes to see little kids on planes, but this Twitter user showed that they can really brighten your flight

On her flight, this Twitter user got to sit next to a witty little girl who kept serving one-line jokes

Kati Hartwig, who is a digital media specialist for Columbus Regional Airport, shared on her Twitter account that on her flight, she was sitting next to a smart 6-year-old girl. The girl warned the woman, saying: “I’m going to talk to you randomly, so you need to be prepared, ok?” According to Kati, this was when she realized she would have “a fantastic flight.”

So her tweet turned into a whole thread full of brilliant jokes by this little girl

She wasn’t wrong, and soon enough, Kati started sharing these little one-line gems the girl was serving her. This Twitter thread became viral with more than 400K likes and almost 30.5K retweets. This encouraged people online to also share their funny stories that included kids and their witty remarks.

Bored Panda contacted Kati to find out more about this amusing story. She revealed that she was indeed surprised to gain so much attention from this as her initial idea was to share these funny tweets with her friends just “to have a good giggle” with her.

After these tweets, Kati also decided to make two TikTok videos where she presented a little backstory to the whole situation. She mentioned that a lot of people were thinking that this whole thing was fake; however, the woman wanted to prove that she wasn’t making this whole thing up.

When asked why she thinks it is so hard for people to believe this whole story to be true, she replied: “I think it’s tough for people to believe everything they see on the internet, and with everything being so negative, people find it tough to see things in a different perspective. Honestly, I’m flattered they think I could make up something that funny! But I really do believe that as we grow up, we are jaded, and that causes a lot of doubts, even when things are fun.”

Kati shared that even though she first estimated that the girl was 6 years old, later she realized that she was a bit older. The girl was actually going into the 4th grade, so she was at least 8-9 years old. People online were also asking the woman to take a picture of a girl, to prove that she was actually real, to which she answered that under no circumstances would she publicly show someone else’s kid.

Kati also revealed that the girl’s parents were also on the flight, so she wasn’t there by herself, as some may have presumed. However, as stated by the Twitter user, the girl was very engaging and was very excited to hear about Kati’s job.

Traveling with kids is not easy, especially, knowing that a lot of other travelers are frustrated with young passengers who tend to make a lot of noise. Maybe the experience that Kati had will make a change in how people see parents traveling with kids? “I sure hope so! Families deserve to travel too, and kids are kids. Giving a little grace in any situation goes a long way. Ask the mom or dad if they need help. Don’t scoff. And, listen to kids. They have amazing points of view, especially because they are still learning things for the first time.”

What do you think about this situation? Have you had similar experiences with little kids in airports? Share your thoughts in the comments down below!

For my husband that would have been the flight from hell (other people's children when he doesn't know the parents absolutely terrify him). I would have found it hilarious and very enjoyable, as I did this entire post!

Um I guess it’s cute, but I thought these were supposed to be hilarious one-liners. Not sure how saying “good timing, I was getting hungry” in response to the snack cart is a hilarious one-liner. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills, “best thread ever” ??? At least those fake tweets by @henpeckedhusband are funny.

But this sounds like it was actually real, as opposed to some the "gems" that some people post on the internet saying their precocious 6 year old said.

I was on a flight to Las Vegas for a buddy's wedding, and the flight attendant approached me and asked if I minded if a young girl (6 or 7) who was traveling alone sat next to me. It was Southwest Airlines, so no assigned seating. I said "Sure, no problem". This girl would. not. stop. talking. Good thing though, that she was pretty funny. I was drinking it up pretty good - I mean, I was on the way to a wedding in Vegas...My favorite parts were her taking out a banana, splitting the top halfway off, drawing a face on it, and making it talk to me. At some point ( I was drinking beer and had to pee several times), when I came back from the bathroom, she just looked at me and said "You sure pee a lot". Then, as we approached Vegas, we hit some pretty serious turbulence. She pulled out her bible and started reading to me from the Book of Job.

Aside from the "not. stop. talking." part, my experience was on Southwest as well. I would happily do it in a heartbeat again.

Oh wow, this was back in 2007. I was on a flight with a sweet 11-year-old girl from Nashville to Louis Armstrong in Kenner, LA. I was asked by the flight attendant to watch over her in case of emergency, since she was flying unaccompanied. Of course I said yes!! It was an honor. She had no one-liners, but I kept her in convo, because it was clear it was her first time flying alone, and I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. She was the sweetest thing. She and her family had fled NO after Katrina, and she was flying, alone, to see other members of her family. I will never forget that flight, and I'm super blessed to have had those interactions from her.

I was flying with my son when was really young (4 or 5). As we were landing, he shouted out "WE LANDED - YAY FOR THE PILOT!" The plane had been silent, so everyone heard him clearly and had a good laugh. I now say this to myself every time I land in a plane.

18 years ago, my family did a little tour up and around a mountain in the Alps. You'd park your car on one side, go up in the cable car, back down by funicular railway the other side, then catch the bus that took you back around to your car. A pair of twins, about 6 years old, kept making pointed comments, it was hilarious. What stuck in my mind was when we rode the bus back to the car and the girl commented "well, our little round trip didn't get us very far."

She wasn't alone (watch the TickTok video). And yes. Divorced parents often send their kids to the other parent. They don't fly alone technically. They are walked through the airport with a "handler", boarded early, deplaned differently, etc.

I basically make about $6,000-$8,000 a month online. It’s enough to comfortably replace my old jobs income, especially considering I only work about 10-13 hours a week from home. I was amazed how easy it was after I tried it….. ===))> 𝐖𝐰𝐰.𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤.𝐂𝐨𝐦

Not a kid but I had an almost college student, with his mom, flying from China to British Columbia next to me. 15 hour flight. When turbulence came I would grab his arm just out of fear and instinct, that boy comforted me the entire time. Mom also offered me food lol.

June, 2005, I was flying into Denver. They told us there would be turbulence as we landed, and it was lively. I'm a pretty experienced flyer so I wasn't worried until I saw the fear on the flight attendants' faces. It got worse. The cabin was silent. Nobody breathed. After an especially strong toss, suddenly some little kid piped up, "Oooh, this is FUN!" Everybody laughed and the tension was gone. Thank you, kid, I remember that.

I have one of these offspring. Had an appointment recently, a catch up to a university study we participated in when he was a baby. The poor woman said he could ask questions as we went, which changed to 'relevant questions', which changed to 'we can answer questions soon' 😃 he also was once asked by his then new counsellor if he had any questions for her: "Do you think God exists?" She hemmed and hawed, so he elaborated that if she happened to have any proof of his existence could he please have It, as he wanted to sell the evidence so he could be a rich man 🤷‍♀️ I love the way kids minds work!

Millar, imagine a life so biring that you have nothing to contribute... That you can't even join in to enjoy other people's happiness.... That you can't even move on to something you enjoy because you don't get joy out of anything... You need to get help!
