In fact, it seems that disabilities don’t seem to make much of a difference when rating life satisfaction. While lacking one of your major senses like sight or hearing doesn’t stop you from flourishing.
Having a good sense of humor and a sunny outlook has a positive effect on patients' recovery after surgery or after a temporary setback like breaking an arm or a leg.

I have MS and have problems with fatigue, so I often use a wheelchair when I'm on a full day out. I definitely needed it for a day exploring Alnwick Castle and garden while on holiday with friends, who took it in turns to push me. This is Krissy, pushing me over one of the bridges in the treetop walk. She had to tilt the chair back, as the smaller front wheels caught on the narrow planks, and had to get up some speed to get up the curve from the centre of the bridge to the far end. I did offer to walk, as it wasn't far, but she was having too much fun with the challange ! wheelie-wh...4f331e.jpg

I love these . As a wheelchair user and chemo survivor I know that you develop a dark sense of humour to get you through. You've got to learn to laugh it off when people stare or ask inappropriate questions or shout abuse or act as if you can't understand what they are saying. I wear an armour of bright red lipstick and use humour a*s my shield.
I had a friend who was so proud of learing to moonwalk with his prosthetic leg... he was so excited about it!
Things like this are such a wake up call. I love the positive attitudes....we can all learn a thing or two about this
While I admire their humor please know that handicapped people still face hardship and discrimination in the job market. Please hire or help get a job for a handicapped individual.
I work in a hospital. These all made me smile or laugh out loud. I wish all of our patients had their attitudes, they would heal so much better and faster in most situations.
When I had my gall bladder removed, husband wrote "here be dragons" on the left side of my tummy. The young doctor didn't get it....
