If her mother wonders from where her daughter picked up bullying, she has only to look in a mirror. Go ahead and sell her phone, but public shaming is just as bad as the daughter's bullying - even worse, because parents should know better.

If you're old enough to go to a bar, shouldn't you be able to replace your own phone instead of asking your mom for a replacement?

Will dad also wear dresses and skirts? Let the girl wear what she wants and teach her that her attitude towards herself and others matters more than a piece of fabric.

This is stupid. Never deprive your kids of a safe home. Locking them out only teaches them that you're a s****y parent who they cannot depend on. Posting a photo publicly only proves that point.

So in 1975, my best friend's big sister was grounded on Valentine's Day but snuck out (as was her habit) anyway to meet up with her boyfriend. The parents, sick of this, locked the door, thinking she'd knock or go next door, sleep at her bff's and do a walk of shame home the next day. They heard her give a yell late that night but she didn't come in. Next morning, her dad found her dead in the back yard with a knife in her back (took nearly 40 years but the creepy-stalky-boy next door (*not* the boyfriend) was eventually charged after a cold case team found new evidence). TL:DR - do NOT punish your kids in any way that could compromise their safety. My friend's folks had the rest of their lives to punish themselves. http://www.seattlepi.com/local/article/1975-murder-case-no-longer-cold-1259510.php

My dad did a simular thing, he Said IF you are not home by midnigth dont come home at all, so i went to My moms house insted, dad was panicing the next morning, last time he complained about me comming home late (note: i was 18 and live in sweden) parents are much more relaxed about rules here, plus 18 means you are an adult here)

I work for the Child Protection Agency of Port Phoenix England and blimey if I found one of these, the kids would be in my custody and the bloody parents would go to jail. Now who would like some tea and crumpets.

Thanks to ur need for validation and attention seeking behavior u posted this on social media for all the creepy creepers to view. Leading to ur kid getting kidnapped off ur patio. Bet the whole missing curfew thing seems pretty petty now, huh?

That is child abuse! The child could be taken away by child protective services! If the kid still has his phone, he could call child protective services and report that he is being deprived of a safe place to sleep just for missing his curfew!

All these parents that think this stuff is unfair or abuse, what the hell do you think is going to happen to your kid when they are an adult? The world isn't a nice, beautiful , safe place and your boss, police officer or authority figure isn't going to give a c**p if you have a safe place to sleep. There are consequences for actions. Another generation of cry baby, whinny, jobless morons that can't take care of themselves. Wake up people!

Trust is as much about knowing your parent means what they say, and expects the rules they lay down to be respected, as it is about always being overtly nurturing. The tone of the note suggests a secure bond between them. My guess is this kid never misses curfew without calling again, and this becomes a "remember that time when...!" story. Win win.

I think it's right. A teenager have to know the rules and really nothing bad would happen during one night in the patio!

This happened to us all the time if we came home late, but we had to sleep in the shed in the garden, where we had a thin camping mattress and a sleeping bag. Happened once or twice that more than 1 of us was home late, that's when things got cold :P

Yes, it is sad that teens post this kind of thing, and that is what social media is encouraging, but if you look at what part of her face is showing, she looks so sad. Parents, your kids will make mistakes, and some of them will be worse then others but DO NOT shame them on the internet or in front of people, it will make them hate you and go against your wishes just to spite you.
