50 Random But Funny Posts Shared In An Online Group Aptly Named ‘Delusions Of Adequacy’
InterviewWhatever you tell me, you wouldn’t convince me there’s not a single bit of nerd in each of us. Whether you're referencing Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter or taking bits from Dungeons or Dragons to the real world, or still talking of Game Of Thrones, both praising it as a masterpiece and complaining about how bad the ending was, we all have our soft spot.
But if you’re a solid nerd-overlord, pointing out not-so-obvious things that make the rest of the crowd shrug in confusion, this corner of Reddit may be just for you. The Delusions Of Adequacy subreddit is a place to share random, nerdy, and geeky stuff all mysteriously explained by the group’s description “the road to adequacy leads through the dark forest of your own inadequacy.”
To find out more about this quirky online community, Bored Panda spoke with the creator behind it named Nick East. Nick is an aspiring fantasy author and self-confessed geek who runs both the Delusions of Adequacy subreddit and a Facebook page by the same name.
So let’s walk that forest road and see where it takes us right below!

We spoke to Nick East, the creator behind the subreddit, who said it initially started with a Facebook page, which in fact has been running longer than the subreddit, “as a place for me to save and share memes with friends.” “On it, me and an old college friend both share memes, which I find interesting in a way, because we rarely talk, but in a way we do... with memes,” Nick explained.

Part of the appeal of Delusions of Adequacy and the corresponding Facebook page has to do with the fact that many people find the groups so specific and miscellaneous that it’s not entirely clear what the whole concept is about.
But the quirky creator of the subreddit clearly has his own vision for it. “I prefer to let people make up their own minds, I guess I'm assuming those who get my brand of humor will understand it, and those who don't get it never will, no matter how much I try to explain,” he told us in an interview.
Nick added that sometimes he “may even be deliberately confusing.” His approach clearly reflects in the posts shared on Delusions Of Adequacy, where totally random content meets geeky and nerdy things, and even philosophy.

There's No Time Limit On Having Fun, Unless You Put It There Yourself
The creator said he likes anything that makes people think about things, wherever that may lead them. “I just want people to try and think their way into adequacy.” In this way, you can interpret the subreddit as a lighthearted provocation.
It’s worth adding that much of the posts on the subreddit are shared by Nick himself. Thus, he believes, his sense of “humor is a big part of the appeal of delusionsofadequacy.” On the other hand, Nick is aware “it's not something everyone appreciates, but I'm okay with that, since I'm free to post my opinions, people should be free to let me know they don't like them.”

It makes me want to build hay bales, shot coyotes, drink beer with my kids and cook meth.

I'll confess right here and now: it's my favourite pizza. I once ordered it in a restaurant in a group setting with two italians who protested my order. I thought they were kidding because of the whole 'controversy', but it turned out they were dead serious. They actually wanted me to change my order. Obviously, I did not cave.
Load More Replies...So many country songs about cheating on or leaving spouses does NOT make me want to fall in love.
Lot of it is co-dependent music. The old joke is what do you hear when you play a country music record backwards.....you get your wife, pickup truck, dog, farm, job, and house back, and you quit drinking and move to China.
Load More Replies...Apparently it makes people want to fall into old boring stereotypes, since that's what everyone here is doing.
Really? As a Southerner, and mild country music fan, I find most of these hilarious. But then, I love stereotypes as comedy fodder. I just try to know my audience and make every effort not to offend, or worse, hurt. Not all stereotypes are as hurtful to those being referenced. Many Southern country music ones are often started by Southern, Country music lovers

If you play country music backwards you can get back your dog, wife, and trailer house.
County music makes my ears bleed. Even death metal is better than county!
I'm personally attacked by the pineapple in pizza part. It's good.

is there really all that much difference between modern popular country....and either old power pop, or even modern pop...outside the....er. morality tales, i guess...??
Rock/Pop is about drugs, fornication and the occasional suicide. Country, especially old country (pre-90s) is about alcohol, adultery and occasionally dying alone of sadness and alcohol. Both have their homages to Dirty Old Men with Sweet Young Things. Both modern genres are seeming to blend, both in sound and subject matter. Yes I know this is a generalization and not all Country/Rock/Pop are about these things

Why regret it, what's the story? There must be a story with such specific details.

Is she referring to real country music? You know, the pure music that's been replaced by this soulless, stadium country drivel.
I dare anyone to listen to Townes Van Zant, Steve Young, John Prine, Waylon Jennings, or any number of great country artists and not fall in love with the genre.
It certainly does NOT make me want to put pineapple on a pizza, make meth nor divorce my wife(not that I have one)! But it does make me wanna yell "YEEHAW!!", go four wheeling out in the woods and shoot random stop signs with my 12 guage. Oh...and drink moonshine.
I don’t get this, isn’t she just saying it in a tongue-in-cheek kinda way, whereas the reply from Ryan Reynolds seems a bit much?
Well bless your heart Ryan, you just described California goings on, not country life. Of course to a big shot like you, California might just be "the country" in your eyes so I'll allow it this time. Bye darlin.
oooooohhh.... "darlin" and a "Bless your heart" SHOTS FIRED!!!
Load More Replies...This is very offensive. You are assuming that just because someone lives in the country that they are in-bred, meth cooking illiterates. Do some research people. Country folks are some of the best folk in the world.

Individuals Must Save So Corporations Can Waste...
Just a reminder that those corporations manufacture goods and provide services that we the people consume. Its supply and demand. Its easy to fail to take accountability for one's own actions when you think it won't make a difference, but when everyone in the world takes that view? It adds up. The only way change can be affected is if it is tackled on all sides. And that means world governments coming together to pledge to reduce emissions as has been done with the Paris accords, businesses adapting their ways of working to meet these reduction targets or face heavy fines, NGO's and civil society keeping pressure on gov's and businesses to stay the course, and we as individuals to make more informed consumer choices.

Funny stuff! Good illustration of people having their own often twisted, ironic and humorous sense of the world. I feel it only adds to the fun when things that supposedly made sense, don't anymore when seen in some other light.
Was just chilling reading these and then towards the end it just went POTTAH
