As long as people throw around some questionable bits of wisdom like it's no big deal, we have the unofficial karma police, aka ‘murderers by words.’ Except murder by words has nothing to with violence, weapons, or blood, which makes the act inherently peaceful, yet brutally powerful.

It’s because the fight is fueled by words, but not by any words. I mean witty, well-argued, and solid arguments that pierce straight through misinformation, fake news, and any other online BS that's so prominent these days. The targets can be anyone from Covid deniers to anti-vaxers to flat earthers and extreme right Trump supporters who support the Capitol riots or similar bursts of terror. And when the words come back, they do so with double the initial power.

Thanks to the prominent corner of Reddit known as the subreddit “Murdered By Words,” the karma evening selection of putdowns, clapbacks, and counter-arguments are in to show that everything you utter in this world can come back to you. Psst! Part 1 of the post with people who got brutally shut down is available here.

Beautifully Pointing Out How Jack Doesn’t Know Why A Vaccine Is

Beautifully Pointing Out How Jack Doesn’t Know Why A Vaccine Is

drmanejwala Report

Previously, comedy writer Ariane Sherine told Bored Panda that when it comes to witty comebacks, they can be both planned and totally spontaneous.

"I've definitely come up with comebacks that are spontaneous. For instance, I told my daughter that if she didn't behave, I'd give her inheritance to a donkey sanctuary. She said, 'You wouldn't,' and I came back, 'You bet your ass!' But though I hadn't used that comeback before, I clearly had knowledge of the pun and might have used something similar in the past."

But not every comeback is equally powerful. The ones that make us thank the lord it’s not us who received them have to be well-timed, super-fast, exceptionally witty, and totally understandable to everyone. If it’s super complicated or said at the wrong time, or worst, in the wrong place, you can get scolded with an agonizing moment of silence.

I love this chicks reply. This woman was told multiple times to stop or they WILL SHOOT HER!! Just because she was a woman and in the service does not mean she does not need to comply with the law. My niece is retired from the Marines and I would say the exact same thing if she were dumb enough to do what this woman did, thankfully my niece has common sense. It sucks she was killed but she broke into a FEDERAL BUILDING WITH SECRET SERVICE AND POLICE AND MILITARY OFFICERS!!!!

I guess it will take another 200 years before idiots understand that you can't "pray the gay away." But "therapy camps" are indeed perfect locations for gay people to meet each other. And it's true: Covid deniers often are homophobes, racists, sexists and white supremacists who also believe in practically every conspiracy theory they can find.

In America, the customer is expected to pay the workers through tips.

This isn't about tips (typically Starbucks baristas aren't tipped), it's about trying to squeeze out more labor than you are paying for, which is common practice in any industry. These seconds and minutes they are talking about are the little favors and tasks that are asked of people after they clock out.

@Bill Newsome. You sit on the clock/at the desk/etc. and if you are *working*... till your customer or boss is done... then you get paid. If it's b/c you got nowhere to go, well, no, b/c no work is no pay. Union or otherwise, btw. and you don't get preapproval for OT in many unions ------ and not when I was in one earning money for education ---- b/c if you worked the hours, you got the pay. It's complicated and compex, varies nation to nation and occupation to occupation.

A place I worked years ago use to have a system that rounded to the nearest quarter hour. So if you worked until 5:07 it got rounded down to 5:00. Eventually they got sued and had to pay everyone employee a settlement check for lost wages.

Yep, ours is 15 minutes. And never round up. Also expected to log on and be ready to start taking calls exactly at your start time, no pay for the actual 15-20 minutes it takes to load up everything and be ready.

I call BS. My son works at Starbucks and there are a lot of companies who put their employees first through this pandemic. Paid time when the stores were shut down. Paid time when employees tested positive for Covid. My son included. Paid time when someone tested positive on a specific shift gave everyone else on that shift paid time for them to stay home for 14 days.

Yes, have seen this as well. It's not sustainable for a private enterprise, but it is a very charitable action and is appreciated by most of the employees.

Clocks are different, too. So it can alter a minute or two. I worked somewhere that changed your hours between minute 7 and 8 to the nearest 15 min. So you can work 8 minutes and get paid 15, but because it was a split, you can also clock out 7 minutes early in the other shift and it evens out. Staff knew how to plan accordingly and I was there to ensure they didn't purposely late clock out after twiddling their thumbs. I can see both sides. I would like to see 15 min compensation for 7 minutes of true work. But 1 minute of work? No. I think if you wrap up a task and it takes a minute or two don't sweat it. But if you take a lot of extra time (and it isnt due from slowness) then yeah, compensate. That is where the 7|8 minute mark works. It has to cut a line somewhere.

Does it mean Americans earn billions more money? I totally understand why Jon Steingart doesn't like it, it is very unamerican to pay for work. Money to brokers is good, money to millionaires is good, but money for work for the poor??? They should be slaves, working for free.

If one of these employees is injured while working off the clock Starbucks is not responsible. I'd like to see the big CEOs get paid by the amount of time they put in. When I punch out, patrons are lucky I don't push them to the ground running for the door!

Generally, CEOs work harder and longer than anyone else, and I'll say the same for most in management. Board members, on the other hand, are well compensated for almost no work (IMO) at all.
