Most of the world associate Canada with maple syrup, niceness, and more maple syrup. But the truth is... the country stereotypes aren't that far from the truth, actually. Just with a few extra weird details. Like, super social moose or friendly police officers. Exotic, I know. To give you a better idea about the Canadian stereotypes, Bored Panda has compiled another list of funny photos that perfectly describe the Great White North. So put on your parka, continue scrolling and enjoy.

For more Canadian memes, check out these pictures you probably couldn't take anywhere else.

Here's a fun fact about life in Canada. Canadians like to say "sorry" so much, they passed the "Apology Act" to limit its use. In the past, lawyers in court were probably able establish guilt quite easily. All they needed to do was prove someone apologized at the time of the incident and things would start going their way.

So Canadian lawmakers made it clear that an apology of any kind “means an expression of sympathy or regret” and not “an admission of fault or liability in connection with the matter to which the words or actions relate.”

Mine too. In a country as wealthy as Canada, there is absolutely NO reason for ANY PERSON to go hungry. *hangs head in abject shame*

I had forgotten to lock the door of the glassed-in porch where we kept shoes and coats on a cold December evening when I had decorated the x-mas tree. The next morning, my son couldn't find his jacket, and after initially blaming him for not remembering where he put it, I realized that there were two winter jackets, two padded winter vests, two pairs of winter shoes, two pairs of gloves, two hats, and two knitted scarves missing, alongside a big bag housing two pairs of inline skates. The skates were outside the door, so I take it they used it to put their old shoes in it. My first reaction was anger at having had thieves there, my second was to feel, well, I'd say almost gratitude. You see, it was minus 15 degreec C (5 F) outside and the wind was very strong. There was plenty of newer and much more expensive pieces of clothing they could have taken. Survival first.

Okay so maybe there are considerate thieves. And this thief I would not be mad at since he was obviously desperate for food.

The burglar left an apology note? Geez dude, just knock on the door next time and ask. 99% of people give food when asked.

I think people won't ask because they're ashamed to ask, they would rather break in and take a little bit of food than knock on someone's door and ask them for food

This house is probably in the woods. People often leave these houses unlocked with canned food stocked up so if you get lost, chased by a bear, etc, you have a safe place to go and food to eat. My guess is hikers ran out of food or further out than they expected and needed some food before they continued.

When I was a child there was a heavy drinker guy who lived near to us. One day he came to out door asking for money to get some food. My mom didn't give any money but told him that she would make him food. So she made a big bag of sandwiches and gave them and some juice to him. She told him to come back if he ever needed Something to eat. My mom is awesome and taught me well by things like that. I have been asked for money couple of times and I have not given any money but I have taken them to the grosery store and paid everything they needed. It's nice to be able to help someone.

My friends in Quebec never lock their house. Twice they knew there had been an uninvited visitor, because the doorknob was locked. They frequently have free clothes, blankets, towels, and food available on their porch: "Take what you need."

More likely to get caught and arrested from a shop as a house doesn't have CCTV and leaving an apology note in a store wouldn't go down well i imagine

It's actually not illegal to break in here for survival reasons. If you're lost in the bush, or stuck in a storm it is perfectly legal to "borrow" shelter.

In Churchill, Manitoba (the polar bear capital of the world), it is actually illegal to lock your car doors! There are so many polar bears wandering around that people need to escape to safety to get out of their way (they can kill with one swipe of a paw). Good law, and I don't think anyone has abused it, at least not that I've heard.

Honestly I bet if the robber would have knocked on anyone’s door and asked I bet 90 percent of people if not more would have shared their food with this person. In my experience Canadians are just built like that.

That's sad, but common unfortunately. :( But a lot of us also give freely and regularly donate to the shelters ( like my local ones in Atlanta). (Also, health and hygiene products are almost Always in high demand so if you ever have unused your local shelter would benefit greatly.)

We have moderately terrible winters in our area (below freezing and snow on the ground for a couple of months), my UPS-driver husband and another UPSer had an ongoing tough-guy contest for about 5 years to see who would finally break down and wear pants instead of shorts. After one especially brutal winter my husband gave in and switched to pants, but only after all the hair had fallen off his legs. I've always told him if you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.
