I Was Studying In The Library When My Phone Rang. Returned After A Few Minutes.
and then there are paranoid people like me who keep their laptop with them even for a cab ride(instead of putting big back-pack into the trunk)
I'm a security guard at a Uni library. The amount of stuff people leave on the tables is stupidly enormous. Phones, laptops, wallets, you name it.
When I find computers where the students are clearly gone but they forgot to log in I either send an email from their account saying: you forgot to log out *name*, or find the most recent word document and put that at the top. For all that they are technology natives undergrads are pretty foolish about technology.
My hubby always criticises me for taking my handbag with me. I don't care. It's mine.
And then there are the fools who leave their phones charging unattended in the library.
Why is this down voted?? That's a really stupid thing to do. Buy a portable charger unless you're okay walking by to find your phone has been stolen.

It could be the library's laptop and bolted down and this was a message to log out if you leave. Virtually stolen could be referring to your log in i.d.
It's probably a courtesy performed by library staff to remind patrons to not leave their valuables unattended. Most libraries have a policy of not holding the staff responsible for patrons stealing from one another, but that doesn't stop people from blaming them. Loudly. And at length.

Last year near Valentine's Day, my library had a display of wrapped books. It said "go home with a blind date". The books had the genre on them and a vague description.
