It's common knowledge that Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling has a magical way with words, but these internet trolls found out the hard way that her comebacks are just as enchanting.
The British novelist is often vocal about her political views, especially her support for the LGBTQ community and her disdain for Donald Trump. This has attracted some negative attention to her Twitter page, but she instantly summons brutal responses every time. After all, she knows a "load of cobblers" when she sees it.
Check out some of her wittiest take-downs below. You may want to use one the next time a mere muggle has something nasty to say.

It's amazing how easily people forget that she spent many years in poverty with a child.
And she also donated a lot of money to local charities.
Load More Replies...She's the only person to lose her "billionaire" status because sh gave so much to charitable causes etc
I think it was millionaire, but yeah. She's been very generous with her fortune, and she's perfectly happy to pay taxes and contribute to the system that supported her when she needed it.
Load More Replies...Just because someone has money, doesn't mean it can help massively right away. Nevertheless, Luke has clearly been asleep: It is known that J.K. Rowling lost her billionaire status, because she spent so much of it on charity. Still makes her a millionaire, of couse, but he's putting it like she hasn't done a thing. Something also gives me the feeling that he miiiight not help out as much with this dangerous boats situation, either. Also, she has sufferered immensely on a mentally base before getting to this point in her life, so she also has a fair share of experience when it comes to the cruelty of the world.
She now has money so she can't support a cause? Did this person even read HP? Harry and co. were all about standing up for the oppressed and fighting against evil darkness.
She's also the first person in history to fall off of the Forbes billionaire list for charitable donations. Yeah, real selfish woman there. At least he said millionaire.
Not the first, but she had given 160 millions by 2012, and very likely more than that 4 years later.
Load More Replies...having a sense for right & wrong is not necessarily related to wealth or poverty. There are good folk and idiots on both sides... in all walks of life for that matter.
Lol great comeback! However, I very much doubt she just sits and pretends to be the richest person in the world. SHE HAS BEEN VERY GENEROUS!!!
How many of the champions do you know personally? There is a couple in my neighborhood who took in an Iraqi translator whose life was being threatened. If you guys know any refugees in LA-my house is open. I'm not gonna stand on the wrong side of history. The Nazis taught me enough.
Load More Replies...One thing I love about her retorts is that she knows that in a lot of cases, it's useless to try and actually debate those people. 1. Logic will not likely convince them and 2. chances are, even if they were convinced, they would not admit it publicly. She's got better things to do, and the little time she spends on brilliant comebacks is entertaining and making people's days :D
By labeling him a "Lone Wolf", the media's dismissing the crime as something conceived and cultivated in his mind alone, and is not reflective of a broader culture against Muslims, or influenced in any way by violent and/or hateful ideology. By not calling him a terrorist, they're protecting said broader culture from scrutiny and placing it squarely on the individual. If this were done on behalf of other terrorists of other races, Islamophobia wouldn't grow into the monster that it is. So, yes -- it's fair to call him a terrorist, inasmuch as it's fair to call any person who kills innocent people a terrorist, regardless of their motivation for doing so.
I may not agree with her political views, but NO ONE will f**k with her or her followers! She gifted me the best teenage years with Harry Potter!!! STFU
This. A million times this! Anyone who claims to be a HP fan but then thinks this way clearly missed the entire message. It makes me wonder what the hell they liked about the books then. Was it just all the surface stuff like the magic?
None of us are pure breeds, we all come from somewhere originally. ...Idiot!
Imagine how over half of Americans feel right now. We're like the mom of the guy who committed mass murder on the 11 o'clock news trying to apologize.
I think when it comes to movies, because they try to be more "realistic", they have this sort of "unwritten rule" of staying closer to the character descriptions, where in stage performances, appearance-related differences are generally not important, unless specific to the social situations around the character (i.e. If the play / musical concerns race relations, you don't want, say, the persecuted black American character played by a Chinese guy or something, lest the audience get very confused.)
Why doesn't he/she just type "your" and "you". It's already an introduction to a battle that's impossible for Rowling to lose.
I would love to see the faces of the people that send those dumb a*s remarks in,as they read her comeback!!! Priceless!!
That's an important thing: when you publicly stand up against something - ad the internet counts as publicly - it's not just the people you're responding to you can have an effect on. It's everyone else witnessing the debate. People look to people with a platform to shape their opinions - politicians, journalists, and any person famous enough to have public weight. Rowling standing against bigots is like Harry standing against Umbridge: it makes other people brave, too.
I can't tell if the person is FOR or AGAINST abortion, but I can tell that they didn't quite understand the point of the film Vera Drake.
I'm kind of confused by the relevance of this quote. I would've quoted the U.S. Constitution, since it was rather explicitly written by guys who mostly didn't care much for the Bible. Amendment 1 of the Constitution says this: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" which seems decidedly more on-point.
I kept thinking "Nerd" was the username of someone who linked to J.K. Rowlings post. Imagine my confusion untill I realized someone had called her a nerd, as if it's a bad thing o.O
God damn, will these people stop with this dichotomous view of Liberals vs. Conservatives?
By Murdoch's loony thinking, all men must therefore be responsible for every rape
If it's 'just words', let's see Trump's reaction if someone came up to his wife and said (using just words) "Melania, I would love to grab your p...y". No, it's not 'just' words.
Good lord (thats all i could come up with.) Seriously stop JRC its not real! Man people have too much time on their hands.
Because he's always been show to be a ridiculously compulsive liar. Like, you didn't NEED to say these things - nobody even ASKED you, but you decided to lie anyway?
When my granddaughter was about 3 and a half she saw a bit of one of the Harry Potter movies on TV and when she saw the Dark Lord she brightened and said, "Ooooh. I know him. He's Lord Walmart". Scary
There really are a lot of idiots out there. How thoughtful of them to give Ms Rowling inspiration to amuse the rest of us.
This is not her. No possible way She's queerphobic, and actively harming trans youth. She has ignored porn tweeted at children over fanart. She spreads TERF ideaology and links to their shops directly. She's a horrible woman.
Oh for F*ck's sake Valentino. It's people like YOU who are spreading the ideology - GENDER Ideology. She's no "queerphobic" in any way, she's not "actively harming trans youth". She's not the horrible woman here, YOU are. Stay away from JK!
Load More Replies...just saw these comments. Funny, she says the perpetrator who killed a muslim is a terrorist. If someone killed Our President, she'd say he deserved it. Not my kind of person.
And if you said potatoes were evil the sun would melt into the sea and the world would stop spinning and we'd all be eaten by deer... See? Anyone can make ridiculous, speculative statements!
Load More Replies...if you dont agree with her then you're wrong and if you do agree with her then WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG....this will actually tempt me to read her works
#5 didnt destroy a troll... she just finally had no proper response lol... its true, shes f*****g loaded, and I dont see her paying for refugees.
"get political?" What does that even mean? So, authors can't have a political view? Or donate to causes they believe in?
