Either for work or fun, I have drawn every day for as long as I can remember. When in 2012 I gave birth to our newborn baby, it was very natural for me to reach for a pencil and do my funny doodles. It was a wonderful, magical, challenging, knackering first year.
Each day of being a mom seemed to bring with it a new challenge or breathtaking developmental milestone. I didn’t want to forget any of it, even the silliest everyday problems. I’d scribble things down as my baby napped. It was often cathartic to make light of situations that were often challenging at the time. By the end of the first year of having a child, I realized I had amassed quite a pile of funny drawings. Badgered by friends and family, I decided to try and get them published and tell my story of raising a kid.

And the rest of the day is your own

Actual torture
How early is too early?
we have to many homeless children as it is. people should start adopting.
Parenting has forced me to learn how to be more emotionally independent. If I want "me" time, I have to take it, not whine for it.
Life with children is so much fun! So much enjoyment! It is worth the battle in the first year.
Was missing one; after a terrible night, I get up to make some important call or things and when I'm finally done and decided to go back to bed,the 4 months baby wake up asking for entertainment. To-ta-lly awake. And with a truly extraordinary poo.
I'm single. but some of that I used to do it everyday Cz my nephew live with me. Sometimes I feel exhausted but when she smile, its heaven
So basically every stereotype and nothing new. In other words 'what everyone says about parenting'
My parenting experience is 100% opposite from every illustration. I pity any parent who deals with that kind of mess, but hang in there...
BRILLIANT! These need to be published. Although then the birth rate will go down lol What a talent!
You might get a giggle out of my warts and all baby book Cocktails at Naptime www.cocktailsatnaptime.com We are kindred spirits.....
This is exactly how I feel!!!!! Thank you sooooo much for facing the truth :)
I love animals more than humans, so I'd rather have more furry "babies". They don't destroy our planet like humans do, either.
Less than a half of these pictures is really true (for me as a mom). And of course one can not see the joy of having a baby, only feel :)
Brilliant - glad she had time for these very accurate drawings, illustrating a time that actually passes quickly but feels like eternity :)
Everything is a matter of point of view. Some people are too selfish, to be parents... I like the illustrations.
So, no joy, only suffering and mess. ...? At least say thanks for getting inspiration from the little one. Did she give her up for adoption?
So true :) he is 9 month old and I enjoy my new life. Not always easy but so meaningful...
Exactly why we will never have children. We've never seen a couple where children made their life easier, more enjoyable, or more stable.
The female is shown but it affects BOTH parents , believe me. It's the father that gets the couch when bubby is sick and needs Mum.
