For most of the world, getting through the '80s was a bumpy ride, and the '90s weren't much better until later on. Kids, or their insane parents, did the most regrettable things with their hair, and these school photos are most likely not something they look back on even a little bit fondly. In fact, we're pretty sure all of these hairstyles are now illegal.

You know, say what you will, but I have to give this mom props for letting her kids express themselves.
I legitimately don't see anything wrong with any hairstyles in this photo, especially the mohawks. I've had the same several times in recent years as have countless friends. Mohawks are still cool.
She's a cool a*s mom for letting her kids be themselves and express themselves. My mom would have slapped all that black off my face if I showed up for the family portrait looking like that. Props for acceptance.

I remember wanting a mullet in the 80's. It was one of the few fashion choices my mom ever put her foot down on . She said, with the most sincerest of wisdom, "NO F*CKING WAY ARE YOU GETTING THAT STUPID HAIRCUT". Thanks, Mom, you were right!!!

I was wondering why I saw this style on kids in the 70's and 80's and it was out of place with the big hair and mullets. This would have been the generation of the parents of those kids. Makes sense.

The Bowl Cut ... They Literally Put A Bowl On My Head !!!
I'm not saying they didn't put a bowl on your head but this is not a classic bowl cut. Bowl cuts go straight around nearly parallel to the ground. This actually tapers nicely. It's rather cute.
Most of these look good on adult rock and pop stars, rather than or regular kids, but some on this list are actually pretty nice.

Admit it we've all had a haircut in our teens that would make us cringe now
I grew up during that era and my hair never even came close to these weird looks. Guess I wasn't into the FADS, I was normal.
Me neither, but I wasn't normal, the girls with the high hair on top and hair swept backwards at the sides with lots of hairspray were the majority...

Now that I'm losing my hair, well, some of these don't look too shabby. (ok, they're horrible, but not having the ability to have a haircut at all? yeah that's worse)
I don't think anything we wear today, will ever look this bad in 20-30 years, we have already seen the worst of the worst, we are living in an age of no sense of fashion at all, because it's all been done.
Get off those folks, that was the fashion for that time frame and they fit right in with any other person

Those big Ole dorkee round grandma glasses are so Ugly.....Even the ones they wear today and people think they look good on them....come on people look in the mirror. ..they look awful on everybody!!!😂

Ah, the 80s. The best music but the worst hair. Am I the only one that thinks #7 and #49 are way better than the girls aqua net dos?!
The worst ones were the little gals with hair standing straight up at the crown. WHat frightened them? A classic bob will neve be out of date and is the best style for any gal no matter what the age.

A lot of these are NOT from the 80s and 90s. Some of them were from as far back as the 50s. But yes, they were all terrifyingly bad!
They all look like aliens!! I lived through the 80's and 90's and nobody had hair like this. Everybody had glasses like those, but I don't quite remember that hair...?
