Would be nice to know you could frequent a gym without feeling you may be mocked.

Don't be a dumbass and you won't be mocked. Fairly simple.
Rather than being a dumbass, could it not be possible that some people genuinely don't know how to use the machines and may be too shy/embarrassed to ask for fear of, for example, being mocked?
JLP: those people aren't dumbasses. Plenty of people in this thread are doing nothing wrong, but there are a few intentionally acting moronic or silly at the gym...they know theyre setting themselves up for ridicule.
If en elderly person comes to the gym and reads newspaper while moving legs on a machine, I'd say leave them be instead of mocking. You have no clue what their condition is. They might have stayed at home and potato on the couch, instead they are at least moving a bit. Besides, I wodner how many commenters knew all about how to use every single device in the gym :P Bunch of smartasses. Yeah, I got a grumpy day today! ;D
Every gym I've ever been to (6) has required that new members be shown how every piece of equipment works. It seems a little risky to let people loose without knowing how to use everything safely.
At the gym where I go to, all the equipment has an image on it, showing how to use it and how to do the exercise. Even if a gym doesn't have something like that, you could always ask the people working there? Rather than risking injury from doing it wrong...
These are funny, but I wonder how many asked for permission before taking a photo and uploading it...
My thoughts exactly. I work out hard and I look a mess when I'm finished, if I saw a photo of myself here I would be both livid and litigious. Personally I'd see phones banned from gyms.
I was going to write the same thing. Not cool to mock people who are just living their lives. Kinda like the whole 'People of Walmart' mentality.
None most likely.
none.
