Cats are pretty smart. They did, after all, convince an entire ancient civilization to worship them. So when we look at the pictures below, it's safe to assume that these cats aren't just being stupid. No. These cats are making a statement, and that statement is: "We don't like your gifts. And even if we do, we're not going to let you know it."

$25 Cat Bed. She Chose The Dust Pan
Mine did much the same until I put a fleece blanket in the cat bed. My little guy likes it now as he has a higher and softer base and can see over the top of the bed.

In the cat's defense the bed is on the box that has water inside -- the dust pan is on the box that has the warm heat inside.
It might help if you wash the new bed in your regular detergent so that it smells more like your clothes. The love newly washed clothes. ( Although this idea can backfire) And definitely put the bed in a warm area. Also cats will always pick the boxes over the gift. They're very smart and will do whatever they want to do, never what you want them to do. Just be patient. They may, eventually, play with or/or on the gifts....but they will still prefer the boxes. And sometimes they just plain ignore you and the gift, they are hard to please creatures
At least he didn't pee in his bed like my cat kept doing. He never sleep in it though

We owe a shop so our cat has plenty of boxes... He seems to feel like a king with them :). I've never seen any cat so happy with a cat-tree or a cat bed like my cat is happy because of his boxes!
