You’ve just given your adorable dog a bath. You’ve brushed its coat and now it’s gleaming like burnished copper. But you forgot to close the back door and off your silly doggo goes, bounding outside. And then you realize: it’s rained recently, there’s dirt everywhere outside, and your pooch is already frolicking across muddy puddles like Peppa Pig.
That’s just one of the many possible situations how your beautiful floof of a doggo can get muddy, messy, and mucky. Bored Panda has compiled a list of adorable and funny photos showing why you should never let your dog take a mud bath. Walter Salvari of the Central California SPCA told Bored Panda that dog and animal lovers can find plenty of ways of contributing to any of their local shelters if they’re looking for ways to make the world a tiny bit better one step at a time.
“There is not a ‘best way’ to support a shelter since everyone has different abilities, availability, talents, and resources. However, everyone can help a shelter.”
According to Walter from the CCSPCA, there are a number of things that people can do to help out their local animal shelters, including adopting or fostering pets, donating money or items on the shelter’s wish list, and volunteering.
However, that’s not all: even sharing good stories about pets and shelters online can make a difference. The same goes for reporting abuse and neglect. Walter also stressed that everyone comes out a winner if we all take excellent care of our own pets and share our know-how and experience with our family, neighbors, and community.

For those of you lucky enough to be living in Central California, Walter said that there are no special qualifications to volunteer for the CCSPCA—all you need is the willingness to help. “We have tasks ranging from dog walking and animal socialization to cleaning; customer service to office work; community education presenting to fundraising, and assisting with special events.”
“We have positions for all levels of physical ability and our current volunteers range in age from 8 to 75,” Walter explained that people of all ages are pitching in and helping animals out. “People wishing to volunteer need to complete a volunteer application on our website and attend an orientation/training class before beginning. We also accept groups for one-day projects.”

The CCSPCA (and plenty of other animal welfare organizations) has a screening process for those of us who want to adopt an animal. Walter explained that the CCSPCA checks if the people willing to adopt a pet have had previous experience with the breed they want to give a forever home to.
“We do this to make sure they are breed knowledgeable, and not adopting simply due to the breed being pretty, or for any negative factors. We also like to make sure that if the customer has more than one person living in the household that everyone is in agreement in adopting a pet. We prefer that everyone in the home spends time with the pet to make sure the pet is a good fit in the household.”
He added: “Lastly, we ask if the customer has dogs at home. We recommend doing meet and greets first with the potential adopters in order to not have any issues at home with their beloved pet and our shelter animals.”

I don't understand the headline. It should be "30 reasons to let your dog play in the mud." Every one of these pups are so happy.
Is it just me or do most of these dogs seem significantly happier when covered in mud? Very curious....Hmmmm :-)
I have no idea why it says you shouldn't let your dogs play in mud. They look like the happiest dogs ever! Well, most of them.
My Chihuahua plays in the mud and comes out looking like a rat (a cute rat tho) 😂
Finally I have an idea what my mom saw when five-year old me and my best friend came running to the door after she called us in for dinner. Bless her soul, she wasn't even mad, she just told us to go get our clothes out of the mud and throw them in the washing machine, then she put us right into the bathtub. 😂

Notice a lot of Samoyeds? LOL! The whitest of dog finds the dirtiest of mud puddles... Hell to bathe but it does make for some funny pix!
I was talking to my sister on the phone. She'd pulled over to an abandoned farm to let her dog out to roam after a long drive. She saw the dog disappear into the woods that surrounded the farm. She started yelling "Suzy!" to get the dog back. Then I heard. "Aw c**p!" and the sound of my sister scrambling to get into the car and shut the door. Turns out that her dog not only found the thickest dirtiest mud puddle to roll in..she'd managed to find the only one sporting duck poop. The dog ran up to the car like "Ok mom! I'm ready to go home!!' She sat there another hour waiting for the dog to dry so she could minimize the mess to the car. The dog was leashed after that.
There are REASONS why dogs roll around in dirt and mud, but I won't bore the appearance centric, affectatious dog owners with them
None of mine liked mud. They loved fox poo and deer droppings. Would have preferred mud (unless it was the black underlayer that reeks)
Our Black Lab Buck liked to swim in the lake and roll in the grass (no poos of any kind).

This is why I stick (mostly) to cats. I do have two dogs, and, yes, they are the origin of the term "mud puppies".
Mud is NO PROBLEMO... I grew up with tons of dogs and occasionally all the boys would disappear, then reappear a day or two later having found something big and dead to roll around in -- a cow, a sea lion, ???. THEY STANK LIKE DEATH and loved it! But they didn't like being tied to the fence with a short leash, then getting the Death Muck sprayed off of them.
............and then they fight you when you try to bathe them.
I think that mostly (if not exclusively) only young dogs like mud baths; and yes they do not like to be hosed down afterwards.
