Funny “Chat” Between The UK And EU Illustrates How Dumb Brexit ‘Demands’ Look
Brexit. Where do we even begin? In a 2016 referendum, the United Kingdom has decided to leave the European Union in hopes of saving money the country would no longer contribute to the EU budget and strengthening its sovereignty. However, the UK and the EU have been so close, they need to completely reshape their relationship if the UK wants to go back to living the bachelor life. But that hasn’t been going so well. Even though the UK and the EU negotiated their “divorce” deal in November 2018, it also has to be agreed by British members of parliament (MPs) – and they have so far voted against it. Quite a few times.
To make the drama even juicier, the MPs recently voted by 312 to 308 to reject a no-deal Brexit under any circumstances. This vote, however, is not binding – under current law the UK could still leave without a deal on 29 March. But today they will vote once again, this time on whether to ask the EU for permission to delay the date for departure. And that’s where we are now. Sounds complicated? Well, it is. Luckily, someone created a short “chat history” between the UK and the EU that tries its best to explain their relationship in a simple way.
The dialogue was posted on a subreddit called Choosing Beggars and has already accumulated over 60k upvotes. According to this community, some people, when receiving generous help with their everyday problems by strangers, choose to push for more instead of showing gratitude, and they have to be exposed. So is Britain a choosing beggar? You decide.

In the mean time, everyone’s holding their breath while Mrs. May and her government are trying to find a way to overcome seemingly impossible parliamentary arithmetic and get lawmakers to back her agreement with European leaders.

People had a lot to say about the whole situation

It has been an absolute disgrace from start to finish, that's all i know at this stage.
Just to correct on of the comments above: the borders to britain were not open. Britain was never part of schenggen. Alright you didn't get a stamp and your european id was enough to get in- but they have passport control
Right. The list of demands above is only too true.
Load More Replies...I guess it's about time for a referendum in all European countries except the UK: "Should we kick out the little annoying bugger? Yes or No.
I'm a Brit and If I was one of the other members I'd say yes. Would serve us right. Stupid mess.
Load More Replies...Even with Brexit, they're still in better shape than the US. Both sides are trying so hard to screw each other over that it doesn't matter who the president is. We've fought our way into political limbo and I can almost guarantee that there's going to be another civil war within the next 50 years. I only wish that I could run for office, under the MYOB party - our slogan is "leave everyone else alone" and the main platform is "if it doesn't directly affect you personally, shut your face".
What I absolutely don't understand is why they don't just have a second referendum. I mean, the government is to represent the willof the people. So, makw a friggin referendum and ask the people what they want. Now that everybody knows about the consequences (as well about the consequences of leaving the EU as about those of just not voting and let the right wing get a majority), said will of the people might be a totally different one than back then.
Some people have said they voted remain but would now vote leave due to the way the EU has behaved. They don't understand that we can't just demand whatever we want, which is apparently all the advantages we had from being in the EU, but get rid of the bits we supposedly don't like. They thought we had more power. Why I have no idea. People think May could go and get what we wanted when Cameron wasn't able to secure a better arrangement prior to the referendum. They blame the fact that at heart she is a Remainer instead of accepting that leaving the EU couldn't just be on our terms. Personally, I voted remain and would still vote remain.

I live here, it's a bloody nightmare, the politicians are still lying, the brexiteers are generally over the age of 60 and red faced balding men, the remainers are either the angry youth or humourless middle aged people and it's all bloody bonkers
Honestly at this point I think the EU should just kick out the UK with no deal. No other European country would get this kind of treatment if they decided to leave the EU (except Germany or France maybe). You can't demand to have all the benefits of being in EU without paying your dues like the rest of us.
If Germany and/or France left the EU, the entire union would break down. Britain leaving will be painful for everyone, but lets face it, they always were one step out, one step in.
Load More Replies...Well, whatever happens, it'll all be the fault of the Germans. (It always is, in the UK: last time I looked I saw posts how the EU was not the same it was after the German re-union and that's why a Brexit is necessary -_- )
Senseless burning money and time what could be used to work out on real problems
Totally. Its not like all the other problems in Britain have stopped for the last 2 years

It pains me very much to see a country like Greak Britain, but especially England, behave in this way, showing what is probably its true colours, and in the process proving that their elite is both colourblind, tone deaf and utterly brazen. "Take back control" The control over what exactly? The control over whom? Who shall supposedly wield that control? The country has wasted the last several years on something that should not have come to pass, all this money and energy could have been funneled into building a future for Great Britain instead of polarizing the society and leaving the playing field open to foreign billionaires from both sides of the Atlantic to tamper with what the average person knows/believes/thinks about the EU. Historians of the future will not be kind in their judgement of the present leaders of GB.
I feel very sorry for May, who has to clean up other's people's mess now.
Other people's mess? Before the referendum, she was against leaving. Then she saw her chance to grab power and threw all her weight behind brexit, and only brexit. Nothing to feel sorry for there, is there. I'd go with contempt.
Load More Replies...It is an absolute nightmare. I didn't vote at the time as I thought it wouldnt make much difference either way for us. Now, every day the headlines are nothing but doom and gloom about more and more things that will be worse after Brexit. How is anyone going to benefit? They should give us another vote now we actually know what the reality will be. I just want the whole issue to go away.
People who thought like you actually f****d the vote up.

The EU needs wealthier countries so that they can help the poorer member states. UK leaving won't benefit Greece. Though war torn countries??? No more obligated than anywhere else.
